Bloomerang's first ever appearance is in Plants vs. Zombies 2 where he also appears as the first new plant to be introduced in the game. He is unlocked after beating Day 2 of Ancient Egypt.
Bloomerang hits with a three-hitting boomerang that returns to them, damaging the zombies twice. In the international version, upgrading him can increase the amount of targets he can hit while in the Chinese version, upgrading him can decrease his cost per pre existing Bloomerangs on the screen.
His Plant Food effect has him fire 16 boomerangs in a plus shape that come back to him after fired. He is a member of Spear-mint family, who lets him deal an additional 100 damage, let his boomerangs hit 6 more targets and increases his boomerang count during his Plant Food effect by 16.

Bloomerang next appeared in the Chinese-exclusive turn-based game Plants vs. Zombies: All Stars as the second plant in the Boomerang line, evolving from Frisbee Shooter and evolving into Meteor Hammer Masher. He attacked by flinging boomerangs which attack enemies ahead of him twice.
His active ability was Headspinning, which dealt damage to the closest enemy in each lane with a chance to stun the enemies and/or himself for 2 turns while his passive ability was Infuriating, which increased his damage by 310 after being inactive for a turn and increased in power after two such instances.
His soulmates were members of the Ice Pea line for a health boost and members of either the Bomb line or members of the Radish line and Pepper lines together for a boost to his critical hit chance.

Bloomerang often appears as a strong plant in these mini-games. In Plants vs. Zombies 2: Guardian, it's the 29th plant to be unlocked and fires a boomerang that does not return towards zombies.
In Plants vs. Zombies 2: Summon, it is the 18th plant to be unlocked and has a 7.5% chance of freezing its target by 1 second. It does 996232 points of damage at level 1.
In Plants vs. Zombies 2: Garden, It's the 9th plant to be unlocked in the Single-target line. It has 3 upgrade variations, namely Intermediate Bloomerang, Advanced Bloomerang and Champion Bloomerang.
In Plants vs. Zombies 2: League, it is a level 8 Shooter type plant called "Dart Shooter". It also has new upgrade variations. They are Guy Dart, Cowboy Dart and Zorro Dart. Flowerchette (portmanteau of "flower" and "flechette") is implemented as its upgrade despite looking the same as the Dart Shooter, and so do its upgrade variations, named Guy Flowerchette, Cowboy Flowerchette and Zorro Flowerchette. In later versions, Dart Shooter and its variants are renamed to "Bloomerang", having Guy Bloomerang renamed to "Green-hatted Bloomerang" while Flowerchette and its variants are replaced by Laser Power, Doctor Power, Rainbow Power and Caulipower.
