Hat Mushroom (疯帽菇; pinyin: fēng mào gū; translation: Mad Hat Mushroom) is a legendary plant in the Chinese version of Plants vs. Zombies 2 which was released for the 2.8.4 update as an obtainable plant for the Fairytale Forest world.

Hat Mushroom attacks by throwing hats down its lane, these hats will then bounce off the target zombies into an additional zombie in a similar manner to Bowling Bulb, with a chance to bounce back back to the initial target. Hat Mushroom's hats also have a chance to randomly send a zombie back to an earlier point of the lawn.

When Hat Mushroom is planted directly behind an Ents, Hat Mushroom will throw spiked mushroom hats. These spiked hats will fire spikes in eight different directions when they first hit a target.

Origins

The exact species of mushroom Hat Mushroom is based on is never explicitly confirmed.

Hat Mushroom's design and name is based on the Hatter from Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. While his appearance appears to be based on Magic-shroom.

Trivia

• Before version 2.9.8 Hat Mushroom's hats did fire damage, meaning they wouldn't hurt Imp Dragon Zombies and would unfreeze zombies.
