Mangofier is a premium lobber plant in Plants vs. Zombies 2, introduced in the 11.5.1 update for the "Mangofier" Arena Season.

Its attack can be toggled between multiple weaker lobbed shots that damage numerous targets like Sling Pea, or a single stronger lobbed shot that can target any zombie on the lawn.

Origins

Mangofier is based on a mango, a tropical fruit originating from South and Southeast Asia.

Utility launcher plant that can be toggled between focus and cluster firing modes. Its long range attacks can reach all parts of the lawn. Mangofier's straightforward nature leaves little for the imagination. But one thing still remains a mystery and has stumped even the brightest minds. What is the Mangofier's beam made out of? Numerous hypotheses have been made... Solar Radiation? A form of Thermal Condensation? Reverse Photosynthesis? Dave claims to know the answer, and has published an 8 page thesis on this subject. Titled 'Wabby Wab-boobo'!

Plant Food effect

When fed with Plant Food, Mangofier summons large beans of light from the sky to various zombies on the lawn, doing heavy continuous damage in a 3x3 area.

Trivia

• According to the official v11.5 release post on Reddit:
  • In-universe, it appears that zombies prefer lanes with Mangofiers in them, as they are "high in vitamin C, fiber and a good source of folate."
    • This however, does not effect the actual in-game spawning patterns of the zombies.
• Despite its projectiles being lobbed, Mangofier can still damage Parasol Zombie.
• Mangofier's projectile sprites use stock art of a mango.
