Mangosteen (聚能山竹; pinyin: jǜ néng shānzhú; translation: Charging Mangosteen) is an electric plant introduced in the Chinese version of Plants vs. Zombies 2. It attacks zombies by dealing electric damage with stun in a 3x3 area around itself and grows to its stage every 10 seconds. It also falls asleep for a short time after attacking enough times.

Origins

Mangosteen is based on the plant of the same name (Garcinia mangostana), a fruit commonly cultivated in Southeast Asia.

Plant Food effect

When fed Plant Food, Mangosteen wakes up and summons a large bolt of lightning to itself, releasing a large ring of electricity that deals heavy damage to zombies and stuns them in its area.Then Mangosteen grow a stage.

The ring of lightning will retract to Mangosteen produces a electric field in 3×3 area, deals damage and to zombies and stuns them continuously in its area.

	Electric Fishnet 电能渔网	In addition to its normal attacks, Mangosteen will also release an electric to the closest small and medium zombies, stunning them until they die. Strategies

This plant is extremely powerful early game, with good attack speed and enough damage to one-shot Basic Zombies in a radius of Phat Beet, however, it's not as good in later stages, as it sleeps for a significant amount of time. For that reason, it's not a very reliable counter to Chicken Wrangler Zombie and Weasel Hoarder later on in the level and needs to be supported with wall plants. A good way to use it is with Pumpkin because he can protect it and allow it to damage zombies attacking him, or slider tiles, Garlic, Hot Date and Sweet Potato because they can divert zombies into other lanes, allowing Mangosteen to attack them from a safe distance.

Trivia

• When Mangosteen is growing to its next stage, its secondary costume can be briefly seen. This happens regardless of if said costume is being used or not, and was even present before the costume was added.
• Mangosteen is directly mentioned in Capaci-cone’s almanac entry.
