Marigold has dedicated herself to the Zen lifestyle. She's a team player, and gives it her best there in the garden. But if she never has to confront another zombie on the lawn again it will be too soon.

Marigold is a plant in Plants vs. Zombies 2. Unlike all other plants, she only appears in the Zen Garden to give the player coins and doesn't make an appearance anywhere else in the game.

Marigold returns in this game, but only appears in the Zen Garden, and cannot be planted in-game via normal means. Unlike in Plants vs. Zombies, she does not have different colored variants, similar to the iOS and Android versions of the said game. The player starts out with the first Marigold as a tutorial.

When it grows to full size it will spew out 500 coins in the form of 5 gold coins. Afterwards, the Marigold disappears.

If planted on the lawn via modding or hacking, she functions as she did in Plants vs. Zombies, but without the ability to give gold coins, she will also fall sleep after a while. When given Plant Food, she disappears into a bunch of silver coins.

Strategies

Due to only being in the Zen Garden, there isn't too much to strategize around her. If you need coins fast, prioritize growing Marigolds if they appear in the garden, as she is the only plant to give coins.

Trivia

• There is a glitch in the loading screen where the petals will not animate correctly and results in her head looking like a snowflake. It happens when the device is lagging or if an internet connection is lost.
• There is a glitch in Zen Garden that when the player waters a Marigold, closes the Zen Garden, and then returns, she will disappear.
• According to the Almanac, the reason she is Zen Garden exclusive is because she dislikes fighting the zombies.
• Before the 2.4.1 update, her Almanac description said that she can sometimes give gems. However, she was not able to do so in any update.
• In a Gargantuar Party Week trailer Plants vs. Zombies Facebook page, she is seen in normal gameplay. However, this Piñata Party was never shown.
• She is the only plant that cannot be planted on the lawn normally.
• If the player somehow obtains seed packets for her, she will appear to be ready to upgrade, but the player cannot upgrade her.
• In Zen Garden, another Marigold is guaranteed to appear for every 4^th sprout planted after the last Marigold.
  • Occasionally, she may appear as the 1^st - 3^rd sprout instead; this will also reset the aforementioned '4^th sprout' counter.
  • Therefore, the maximum amount of sprouts needed to fully populate Zen Garden with Marigolds is 48.
