NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

The player, while their brains are being eaten by zombies

The Player is the protagonist of Plants vs. Zombies, Plants vs. Zombies Adventures, and Plants vs. Zombies 2, as well as making a cameo appearance in Plants vs. Zombies Heroes and being mentioned briefly in Plants vs. Zombies 3. The player is mainly defined by being the owner of a house with a pool & stable roof and being hunted down by zombies because of their brains. The player's brains remaining intact act as the primary driving force of Plants vs. Zombies 1 and Plants vs. Zombies 2.

Their zombie equivalent is Biodome Botanist.

Trivia

  • It's not known logistically how the player is able to deploy plants on their lawn seemingly instantaneously while still never being seen and simultaneously being inside the house.
  • In the Plants vs. Zombies: Official Guide to Protecting Your Brains book, it is implied the player's name is "Johnny Homeowner" when the book addresses the reader as that name. However, it's unclear if the reader and the player are meant to be the same person.

Plants vs. Zombie Adventures (Archived content)

  • This is the only time the player appears physically.
  • This is the only time the player meaningfully interacts with any humans besides Crazy Dave.

Plants vs. Zombies 2

  • The player is the only character to have their name in a world, being Player's House.
  • Dr. Zomboss in Day 8 of Far Future mentions the player's brains being eaten in this timeline.
  • It's unclear whether the player that appears in Plants vs. Zombies 2 is the same as the one that appears in Plants vs. Zombies 1. It could very likely go both ways, as there is both evidence that supports and contradicts this.
    • The way Crazy Dave first talks to the player in Day 5 of Player's House is ambiguous to whether Crazy Dave has met the player before or not.
    • The player has a front lawn, pool, and roof. However, they all appear slightly different as how they do in Plants Vs. Zombies 1.
