Puzzle Piece

Puzzle Pieces are items available in the Chinese version of Plants vs. Zombies 2. Ten of a kind are needed to unlock the plants they are used to obtain. Plant costumes are also obtained by collecting Puzzle Pieces. They also appear in Plants vs. Zombies: All Stars. Every plant in both games so far has its own Puzzle Piece.

Methods of Obtaining Puzzle Pieces
- They are dropped by Gargantuars, Gunpowder Devil and Treasure Yetis in each mode of Daily Challenge.
- They can be obtained through Penny's Shop or Penny's Treasures.
- Some of them can be obtained through Plant Adventures.
- They can be earned through playing hard versions of the levels. They may give you costume puzzle pieces.
- Events (e.g. The 2017 Chinese New Year event with Cob Cannon and Dino-Roar Grass).
Amount of Puzzle Pieces Needed
- Unlocking a plant: 10 Puzzle Pieces
- Leveling a plant to
: 30 Puzzle Pieces along with 50,000 coins - Leveling a plant to
: 50 Puzzle Pieces along with 100,000 coins - Leveling a plant to
: 50 Puzzle Pieces along with 200,000 coins - Leveling a plant to
: 80 Puzzle Pieces; 500,000 coins and 10 units of Culture Medium with the same rarity as the plant. - Unlocking a plant's costume: Ranging from 6 to 30 Puzzle Pieces for each plant.
Universal and Orientational Puzzle Pieces
There are 2 miscellaneous puzzle pieces that function differently to regular puzzle pieces for plants and pendants. Universal puzzle pieces allow you to use them on any plant you own for easier levelling, while Orientational puzzle pieces allow you exchange them for puzzle pieces of a specific list of plants: Tigerstool, Gatling Pea, Fishhook Grass, Ultomato, Dazey Chain, Claw Gloriosa, Ents, Twin Year of the Rabbits, Bamboo Trooper, Olive Pit, Gumnut, Princess Spring Grass, Turkey-pult, Hammer Flower, Hat Mushroom, Meteor Flower, Cactus, Angel Starfruit, Pike Hoya, Cranesbill Fencer, Dragon Bruit, Sunshine Leek, Bun Chi and Bamboo Spartan.
Plants vs. Zombies 3 (Chinese version)
In the Chinese version of Plants vs. Zombies 3, puzzle pieces can either be obtained through the plant cultivation menu, where purple plant pieces can be obtained, or by getting a duplicate of a plant you already have, in which you will get 30 of their puzzle pieces if purple rarity and 60 if orange rarity. Puzzle pieces currently do not have any use.
Plants vs. Zombies: All Stars (Archived content)
Specific Puzzle Pieces could be obtained through certain levels. These levels may have dropped Puzzle Pieces in an amount between 0~3 for every replay. Puzzle Pieces could also be obtained through Cards, Daily Rewards, Shop and events. 30 Puzzle Pieces were required to unlock a plant, and a specific amount of Puzzle Pieces was required to continue upgrading the plant to a specific star level.

Trivia
- Before the 1.5.0 version, Melon-pult and Kernel-pult only needed five of these to be unlocked. It has been fixed.
- In the 1.8.0 version, every normal Puzzle Piece was updated to reflect the quality of the plants.
- In the 1.9.0 version, the Orange Puzzle Pieces were changed again.
