Sea-shroom is a mushroom plant appearing in Plants vs. Zombies 2. It functions identically from its first appearance, firing spores in a short range while only being plantable on water. However, Sea-shroom's spores now deal splash damage to nearby zombies and, like with Puff-shroom, will disappear after a short time.

Like Tangle Kelp, if the tide of Big Wave Beach recedes below the tile it is placed on, it will despawn. Unlike the Tangle Kelp however, Sea-shroom has a brief delay before dying due to lack of water.

Fire a short range explosive spore that will damage zombies in a radius, but it will wither away after a short time. Sea-shroom and Puff-shroom are long distance cousins. No one knows when their family tree diverged, but the family reunions always involve a poll party.

When fed Plant Food, all Sea-shrooms on screen will fire a short ranged barrage of spores and resetting all of their disappearance timers.

Strategies

Sea-shroom requires water to use, greatly limiting its usage. If the water disappears, Sea-shroom follows with it.

Sea-shroom is most useful (and usable) for Big Wave Beach, regardless of mode, providing a tool against all the zombies there. It can be used to make Snorkel Zombie unsubmerge, and as fodder for Surfer Zombie, Octo Zombie and Fisherman Zombie. It can also be used to stall a Gargantuar need be.

Sea-shroom is extremely weak to Low Tide, easily taking out multiple of them before the zombies even attack.

Trivia

• Sea-shroom is the only Fog plant from the original game to not be in the Chinese version of Plants vs. Zombies 2.
• If Sea-shroom's Plant Food ability is activated just as the tide in Big Wave Beach recedes, all Sea-shrooms on wet sand will continue to be alive.
• Unlike in the first game, Sea-shroom's projectile is no longer colored purple, instead it is colored blue. Additionally, Sea-shroom's projectile also resembles a bubble.
• Unlike in the first game, Sea-shroom's seed packet recharge is significantly faster.
  • However, in the Java version of the first game, it also has a fast recharge.
• Unlike Puff-shroom, Sea-shroom only has one degrade stage when it's about to disappear, and instead of having its cap slowly discoloring, Sea-shroom's entire body becomes transparent as an indication of it about disappearing.
• Not counting Shadow Peashooter and Mega Gatling Pea, whose almanacs used to have Player's House/Modern Day grass background before being switched to the blue background with bright squares, Sea-shroom is the very first plant to be released since Modern Day not to use the blue background with bright squares in its Almanac, instead having Big Wave Beach water background due to the fact it is an aquatic plant.
• It, Scaredy-shroom, and Puff-shroom are only plants that initiate a chain reaction of Plant Food.
  • Coincidentally, they are all returning mushrooms from the first game.
• It and Nightcap are the only plants that made cameo appearances in loading screens before getting added to the game.
  • In Sea-shroom's case, it made a cameo appearance in the 10.5.1. loading screen, can be seen floating on the beach next to Phat Beet.
