Talisman Zombie was a mini-boss in Plants vs. Zombies: All Stars. He had an ability to slap plants when he was close to them. His boss skill was to throw away the fu (talisman paper) which was sticking on his face, as it would do a double-scratch on a plant. However, his boss skill could only be activated when he was close to a plant.

Origins

This zombie was based on a Jiangshi, which is Chinese for "stiff corpse", or "zombie". The clothes he wore are the ones of an official during the Qing Dynasty. Specifically, he wore the robes of a tax-collector or marshal, and the hat he wore is the winter variant of the original summer conical shaped hat, made from rattan or other similar material.

Trivia

  • Talisman Zombie was actually from the Qing dynasty, while the world that he belongs in took place during the Qin dynasty.
  • The yellow paper talisman (pinyin: "fu") was supposed to stop the Jiangshi from moving, not to get it to attack enemies.
    • However, the Talisman Zombie still moved and was able to take the paper out with his skill, which means the fu only stopped him from abusing his powerful skill in the game.
  • Just like most other zombies, his bone stuck out. This was most likely a programming mistake.
  • His right hand would become its left hand when he died. This was a glitch.
  • He resembled one of the Chinese zombies in the first game with a few minor changes.
    • Those minor changes being the talisman paper and it’s goatee.
