Tupistra Stalker (潜行开口箭; pinyin: qiánxíng kāikǒujiàn) is a plant in Chinese version of Plants vs. Zombies 2 introduced in the 2.6.0. update as an unlockable plant for the Heian Ages world.

When a zombie enters a 3x3 area around it, Tupistra Stalker jumps out of the ground and throws leaf blades at it. After attacking, Tupistra Stalker will run out of leaf blades to fire. When Tupistra Stalker runs out of leaf blades, it will hide underground until its leaves recharge.

When underground, Tupistra Stalker will not be able to be attacked by zombies entering its tile, thus, zombies will simply walk over it until it reemerges.

Origins

Tupistra Stalker is based on the Tupistra chinensis, a species in the genus Tupistra, which is mainly spread in southern China.

Tupistra Stalker's leaf blades are based on the kunai, which are Japanese blades traditionally used as masonry trowels, but are more commonly known through their use as throwing blades typically associated with ninjas.

Plant characteristics: Green plant Tupistra Stalker is recognized as one of the best ninjas in the industry, but most will argue that Eggplant Ninja is a far better ninja, Tupistra Stalker doesn't really care much honestly, and recognizes that both sides utilize completely different methods of attack. Tupistra Stalker is more about hiding in the shadows to secure a safer retreat.

Plant Food effect

When given Plant Food, Tupistra Stalker will jump out of the ground and throw multiple leaf blades around it in a 3x3 area, all zombies in this area will be heavily damaged.

Costume

Tupistra Stalker's costumed effect allows the leaf blades thrown to remain on the ground and continuously damage zombies.

Strategies

Tupistra Stalker can be seen as an alternate version of Phat Beet, dealing more damage in a single atttack, but having to recharge for a few seconds after doing so. Sweet Potato or Garlic can help move zombies away from Tupistra Stalker's lane, protecting it. Without these plants however, it can easily be eaten right after regrowing its leaves if a zombie was on its tile.

Tupistra Stalker can quickly clear out weak groups of zombies, but will struggle against stronger ones.

Trivia

• During its spinning animation, its costume will appear if you look closely. This likely a visual glitch.
• When Tupistra Stalker is located near the edge of the lawn, some of its kunai are still visible outside the lawn when attacking zombies. It is certainly unknown if this is an animation glitch or is unintentional.
• For some reason, it’s possible for Tupistra Stalker to kill hypnotized zombies. It’s unknown whether this is unintentional or intentional.
• Even though it’s an underground plant, it can be planted on planks in Pirate Seas.
