Zom-Blob (Chinese version of Plants vs. Zombies 2)

Zom-Blob (史莱姆僵尸, lit: "Slime Zombie"; pinyin: Shǐ Lái Mǔ Jiāngshī), previously referred to as Zlime (尸莱姆; pinyin: Shī Lái Mǔ), is a zombie encountered in the Memory Lane game-mode in the Chinese version of Plants vs. Zombies 2.

Upon being defeated, he will split into 2 Little Zom-Blobs (小史莱姆僵尸; pinyin: Xiǎo Shǐ Lái Mǔ Jiāngshī), who in turn will split into 2 more smaller forms (total of 4), who in turn will split once again into 2 even smaller forms (total of 8), totaling to 15 Zom-Blobs throughout the whole process.

His splitting mechanism can be countered by buttering him multiple times with butter plants. Depending on the amount of buttering he has received, his lower part of the body visually will be buttered (up to the limbs), then all the way up to his torso, and finally entirely from head to toe. Once he's entirely buttered, he will not be able to split if he dies. While most butter effects only cover him partially, Bud'uh Boom will cover him fully right away.

The splitting happens by throwing 2 blobs on the air, one of which falls on the same spot he died, while the other one falls on the adjacent lane above on the same spot column-wise. In case he is killed on the topmost lane, the second blob will fall on the adjacent lane below instead. If he dies while being buttered up to the limbs or up to the torso (but not entirely), the smaller forms that will be reproduced by the thrown blobs will be just as buttered, making it easier to fully butter them to prevent further splits.

Origins

He is based on Zom-Blob from the pre-2021 version of Plants vs. Zombies 3, who in turn is based on Zom-Blob from Plants vs. Zombies Heroes.

Trivia

• According to the developers, he was going to be directly based off of Zom-Blob from the pre-2021 version of Plants vs. Zombies 3, but the concept was altered to some extent later on due to not being suitable, such as the dissection of limbs being difficult to be implemented.
• He was initially directly referred to as "Zlime" (尸莱姆) in a teaser prior to his release, but was changed to "Slime Zombie" (史莱姆僵尸) on release.
  • "Zlime" was previously used as the Traditional Chinese name for Zom-Blob in Plants vs. Zombies Heroes.
