if placed on sd card/android/data/pvz2 folder and within the folders inside it there should be one that says No_Backup which is your save. placing that file over there simply made toadstool appear in store, during the time I tested it it never affected or damaged the progress. Also,if you backup your save first like I did you can go revert back to it anytime without any problem :p
