Oftentimes, a country will encourage citizens to buy things withing their own country to keep the economy balanced. If everyone in American bought things strictly outside of America, all but transporting businesses would die, and people would lose jobs by millions. They encourage civilians to buy things within their country with a thing called tariff, which is similar to taxing and adds additional cost to the product outside the country.
