Gauntlet = Basically an item used by humans for fighting. So gauntlets will be the currency used when you're about to lose a match. Remember, we already know such a currency is being introduced by players who want to get such an edge over their opponents. OR, a PvP store currency and gems will be used instead when you're about to lose a match.

I really don't think people should be able to save themselves with money. If it comes to that, maybe there should a "second life" option upon death that you can use only once?

This is the second life chance I was talking about earlier. But it activates before you actually lose the life (basically when you're about to). At least that's what the text signifies when we got the leaks.

I Am Never Playing PvP Mode If This Happenes. Skill>PayToWin. But If That Were The Case, They Would Make OP Premiums That Cost $9999.99.
