Ah yea that was really cool, I think the reason PvZ 2 didn't implement that but instead made those plants work individually is because of less slots (in PvZ 1 you could have up to 10 seed slots on PC).

I like being able to know how each plant and zombie works visually instead of calculating with many numbers.

Yes there is a limited number of slots. That means if they implement the upgrade system from the first pvz, you can realistically only bring the “upgraded” versions of 1 or 2 plants.

So instead of bringing 7 level 10 plants during a level, which is certainly overpowered, we need to strategically choose our plant upgrades because they take up a slot.
