Lots more premiums became gemiums. You still can boost plants and increase Zen slots. Lots of people use them for more than the underpowered 250 seed trash that is the pinatas. I mean, sure, 250 seed packs seem really good. But it's not once you get past level 1/2/3.

Increasing zen slots and plants are one time things and boosts are perhaps the worst way to spend gems. These pinatas on the other hand, give XP for a permament boost. Many people will spend gems more on pinatas than boosts, given the choice and some won't. The crave for pinatas is more which is why the community challenges are being cleared so easily (even when they award not that many seed packets).

Never said it's a good idea but I know many who'd spend it on Zen gardening.
