Grinding is one reason, the second reason is that it deletes the strategy. Plants are supposed to have certain sun cost and amount of power zo match it, leveling just makes everything op, it's literally cheating embraced as legit method of completing levels. Why bother using actual stratety when Peashooters will just mow down Gargantuars like they are nothing.
Also holy crap PvZ YouTubers have become so shit, everything is just filled with those "EPIC PLANT LEVEL 99393838E8388383" or just compilations of stolen animations and all of that with cringy thumbnails of course.
I completely agree. Pvz 2 was an amazing sequel before the release of modern day. The plant levelling system was a huge mistake. You know that there’s something seriously wrong when a peashooter can be levelled up to take down a gargantuar easily. That destroys the tower defence strategy game we once knew.
And the game already had features to help you cheat to win levels. Like power ups and boosted plants from the zen garden. Levelling up plants is a permanent change but of course, we have the choice to level them up or not. I have kept all of my plants at level 1. I am about to enter jade league in battlez and with only level 1 plants (and the new mints). I didn’t think it was possible at first but it actually is if you find a great strategy and have enough gauntlets to play more games in the higher leagues.
