Plants vs. Zombies Wiki:Templates

From Plants vs. Zombies Wiki
Jump to navigation Jump to search

There are many templates in use in Plants vs. Zombies Wiki; these are only a subset, representing some of the most important and commonly used ones. If you feel that a template belongs on this page, do not hesitate to add it.

  • Category:Templates should cover all templates in the wiki, categorized into the various subcategories.
  • The Template namespace (found from Special:Allpages) always has all templates in the wiki, sorted alphanumerically.

What are templates?

Wiki templates provide a means to insert the same content over and over in different (or the same) pages. This saves editors the hassle of duplicating the same text again and again, and also helps ensure consistency.

Templates are generally shown with the format required to use the template (e.g. {{Construction}}). Clicking the template name takes you to the template's page, where you can see what it looks like and how it is used.

Detailed instructions on the usage of each template should exist on:

  1. a subpage using {{documentation}}; or
  2. the template page itself (inside "noinclude" tags); or
  3. the template's talk page.

For more information on templates, see Help:Templates.

Article management templates

Archived articles

{{Archived}} and {{Archived/Section}}

  • This article informs that the content is no longer available. The whole article is written in past tense.

Articles that need to be cleaned-up

{{Clean-up}}

  • This article indicates that the article needs a clean-up. This could mean that there's broken grammar, messy template code, or other things that degrade the quality of the article.

Articles with limited content

{{StillAvailable}}

  • This template is used to inform the reader that the item is only available for a limited time. It also informs whether it is available right now or not.

Articles with concepts

{{Scrapped}}

  • This template notifies that the information on the article is not fake, but rather unused concepts or scrapped features.

Articles with upcoming content

{{Unreleased}}, {{Upcoming}}, and {{Upcoming/Section}}

  • This template is used to signify that the article information is not available to the public yet. Edits on these articles should be checked frequently. This is mainly used to alert the people reading that the game itself has not been released, and/or to comply with developer policies regarding the release of sensitive information.

Articles with no images

{{Pix}}

  • This template is used on pages that have no pictures or videos. The template can be removed once at least one image or video is added to the article.

Article under construction

{{Construction}}

  • This is used on pages that are still incomplete and need more information. The template is no longer needed when most information needed is in the page.

Articles with upcoming content

{{Unreleased}} and {{Upcoming}}

  • This template is used to signify that the article information is not available to the public yet. Edits on these articles should be checked frequently. This is mainly used to alert the people reading that the game itself has not been released, and/or to comply with developer policies regarding the release of sensitive information.

Chinese articles

{{ChinaArticle}}

  • This template informs that the content is only available in Chinese games.

Conjectural article names

{{Conjectural}}

  • This template is used for articles which have conjectural names. These are titles that are created by us - the staff of community, and they have never been confirmed officially in-game or by the developers.

Disambiguation articles

{{Disambig}}

  • If you have several articles that have similar or identical names, you may wish to create a "disambiguation" page at the main article name, with the articles taking an extra phrase in brackets afterwards. For example:
Yeti (disambiguation) <-- disambiguation page, with links to:
Zombie Yeti
Treasure Yeti
  • Using {{Disambig}} marks an article as a disambiguation page by adding a banner to the article and categorizing it under Category:Disambiguations. Add links to the various articles under the banner.
  • For more information, see Help:Disambiguation.

Long sections

{{LongSection|<section>|<text>}}

  • This template is used to hide sections with a lot of content. It can be seen by clicking the "Show" button or hidden by clicking the "Hide" button.

New content

{{NewContent}}

  • This template informs that the article subject has been recently released. The template is removed after a week of its release.

Nominate an article for deletion

{{Delete|<reason>}}

Unconfirmed articles

{{Unconfirmed}}

  • This template is used for pages that still need confirmation of their existence.

General wiki templates

Clear

{{Clr}}, plus {{Clrl}} and {{Clrr}}

  • This template is used to reduce the amount of non-wikicode used on pages, replacing the code <br style="clear:both;" />. Its use should generally be avoided.
  • You can use {{Clr}} instead of the HTML tag that clears space below things like images, pictures and tables, so the following stuff doesn't begin until the bottom of the image, picture or table box.
  • You can also use {{Clrl}} or {{Clrr}} to clear only left or right floats.

For

{{For|<Name>|<Link>}}

  • Use at the top of articles as a simple "for x see y" template.

Main article

{{Main|<Main article>}}

  • Use at the start of a section to link to the main article on it.

Right-aligned Table of Contents

{{Tocright}}

  • This template floats the table of contents (toc) on the right. It should only be used when absolutely necessary, to keep consistent design.

T is for template

{{T|<Template>}}

  • This template allows you to show example template code (with a link to the templates) without using the template itself. It is used extensively on this page.
