Yeah, I can confirm that. Was doing the mission for a second time when I realised the Peashooter is one of the best choices for it. The Chili Bean Bomb is great at taking down those rifts, and in the boss fight, just use Hyper to jump onto a  truck or someplace where he can't follow you, then Pea Gatling his face out from that vantage point. Easy peasy.
