You will not be able to revive a plant that was pushed out off the lawn by a Mecha-Football. That's because even if your plant in the leftmost column gets thrown out, there will be another plant that will INSTANTLY occupy that same slot, and even if you CLICKED REALLY FAST (theoretically possible), it will still get ousted as soon as the "pushing animation" commences. It's like you revived it, only to be pushed again and again.
