This may sound crazy, but I have a theory about what the disco chomper does. Throughout the series, music or disco themed units have been able to summon backup. (i.e: the dancing zombie, the disco tron, the disco zombie.) So maybe whenever the disco chomper eats a zombie, it could summon a few weeds to protect it giving it time to get away. Of course it would probably just be four basic weeds so as not to interfere too much with the spawnable plant consumable mechanic.
