@Plant Protector: It's "Pist-haut-pois" (pronounced like peesto-pwah), a porte-manteau of "pisto-pois" (peashooter in french) and "haut" (up in french). It's just a terrible pun... But it couldn't be easily translated... 

(For some reason, we always had some extra puns in names and descriptions of plants and zombies, probably because some other puns couldn't have been used, like for Winter Melon just becoming "courge"...)

But hey! The Podfather's name is just as punny in both language! ("Poirrain", basically meaning Podfather, but its french description still aludes to the fact that its french name resemble to "poire", meaning pear in french.)
