Thank you for reading this issue of Plant Rankings, where a plant's worth is put to the test, and put into tiers. This issue was requested by Ballistic Planet.
The A.K.E.E is a simple plant. It was classified as a "Bowling Bulb Catapult", and that's pretty much exactly what it is. It costs 175 sun, has a fast recharge, and does 2-3 nds for 3 shots, meaning each zombie takes 6-9. There's your first problem. The sun isn't balanced with the damage it provides. In Lost City, this isn't an issue at all. With Gold Leaf and the Sun Tiles, it's not hard to get back that sun. But even then that's still sun going down the drain for a plant that does a measely 6-9 damage to a row of zombies veeeery slowly.
In Lost City, Shovel Zombies are protected by Parasol Zombies, taking out another reason why this plant was created. The parasols overlap the Shovel Zombie, making A.K.E.E a sitting duck. Watch as your base gets torn apart by a measly yellow shovel, and wonder why it's not working.
Alternative
While there is no plant that hits an entire row of zombies well (in my opinion), the best alternative is Laser Bean.
While he is slow and more expensive, he hits the entire row of zombies at the same time, with a good damage:time ratio. He will hit both Shovel Zombies and Parsol Zombies, killing 2 birds with one stone...er...laser.
Final Ranking
A.K.E.E sits in the Tier 1 merge tier. It's not bad enough to be in Tier 1, but it's not nearly good enough to sit in Tier 2.
