User blog:IMCR8Z/Plants vs. Zombies 2 World Idea: Compost-Apocalypse
Howdy there, neighbors! IMCR8Z here with my next world idea for PvZ 2!
World Features
Based on: Compost-Apocalypse is set in a Mad Max/Fallout-style post-apocalyptic future, where some zombies have escaped a massive Doom-shroom like explosion, featured in a cutscene at the beginning of Day 1.
World-specific mechanic 1: Some zombies have been mutated by the explosion, meaning that every zombie that appears in Compost-Apocalypse (yes, that includes the Zombot!) has 2 versions: Survivor and Mutant. All Mutant zombies are immune to the slowing effects of ice and sap, and only take 1 Normal Damage Shot from fire peas. Huge waves with only mutants are marked with yellow flags with a green brain on them on the level progress bar. Huge waves with only survivors are marked with the regular red flag with pink brain on them on the level progress bar.
World-specific mechanic 2: In all levels of Compost-Apocalypse except the first one, there exists radiation gas from the fallout of the Doom-shroom on the far right of the lawn, this gas will kill most plants if they are exposed to it for too long. Use the Gas Flax to protect other plants from the gas. Mushrooms, Thunder Rose, Pumpkin, and any plant that is using a Plant Food effect that gives them armor are also immune to the gas. Similar to the tides in Big Wave Beach, the gas will get closer to and further from the left side of the screen at random points during a level. Unlike fog, the gas does not prevent you from seeing plants or zombies inside it.
Surprise attack: The first suprise attack in Compost-Apocalypse is "METEOR SHOWER!", where meteors fall from the sky and crush plants and zombies they land on. Sometimes, Mutant Imps will emerge from the meteors. The second suprise attack is "BIKERS!", where Survivor Imps will drive onto the lawn via motorcycle until said motorcycles break down, followed by them jumping out onto the lawn.
World description: "Lawn defense. Lawn defense never changes. The Zombie Wars of 3009 have lead to the destruction of most of the planet and the creation of a post-apocalyptic wonderland for the undead. Poisonous gas and element-resistant mutant zombies await you in this wasteland of doom!"

Brain Busters
Compost-Apocalype has 2 Brain Busters unique to it, both of which involve you playing as the zombies.
The first one is a simple shooter where you control a prototype version of the Zombot Road Warrior, and must shoot at mutant zombies before they escape the lawn. Watch out, though, EMPeaches will fall from the sky in an attempt to disable your tank. You can shoot them before they explode to get rid of them, naturally.
The second Brain Buster is more of a puzzle. You must move 1 mutant zombie at a time up, down, left, or right, and must turn Survivor Zombies into mutants by blocking their movement. Don't let them block your mutants, though, or you'll lose them. You will win once all Survivor Zombies have turned into mutants and lose if all the Mutants are gone.
Conversations
Before Day 1
Crazy Dave: "Woah! I always wanted to go to Australia!"
Penny: "My calculations suggest we have landed in a post-apocalyptic future as a result of too many Doom-shrooms."
Crazy Dave: "Cool! This reminds me of my favorite movie: Mad Mushroom: The Toadstool Warrior!"
Penny: "Indeed it does. Anyway, I've detected that some zombies have been mutated by the explosion. Something tells me they've developed an immunity to certain plant effects."
Crazy Dave: "Zombies immune to ice, fire, and greasy floor? THAT'S MAD!!!"

Endless Zones
Unlike other worlds, Compost-Apocalypse has 3 Endless Zones. All 3 are unlocked on the same level, but each has different zombies. One Endless Zone has only Survivors, another only has Mutants, and the last one has both.
The Endless Zone with only survivors is called "The Blunderdome". The Endless Zone with only mutants is called "The Compost Pile".
The Endless Zone with both survivors and mutants is called "The War Floor".
