Not sure if sarcastic or not, but wanting PvZ1 plants to return isn't stupid. Saying that PvZ2 plants replace them is like saying Squash shouldn't have returned because Chili Bean works in a similar way.

Edit: How about this for Sweet Pea: Spits candy down the lane. If a candy piece passes a zombie on an adjacent lane, it makes the zombie switch lanes.
