Welcome

Hi, welcome to Plants vs. Zombies Wiki! Thanks for your edit to the Magic Taco page.

Please leave a message on my talk page if I can help with anything! -- JoePlay (Talk) 19:12, November 3, 2009

Why did I change the Gallery of Zombies?

On second thought, I guess it wasn't such a good idea. Thanks for your edits, by the way. I changed it back, except with a few minor revisions; for one, I made a correction in the language, and for the other change, I changed Regular Zombie back to Zombie. That's what it's called in the Suburban Almanac, that's it's name, and that's what we're going to call it.--RandomguY 02:03, November 10, 2009 (UTC)

Regarding the Newspaper Zombie

The newspaper is indeed useless against the fume-shroom and gloom-shroom. Why? Because they hit EVERY SINGLE ENEMY TARGET in their area, no matter how many newspapers or screen doors they have. --RandomguY 06:52, November 16, 2009 (UTC)

Re: Newspaper Zombie

Right now, I'm thinking that the newspaper has lower health than the zombie itself. I'll confirm it later.--RandomguY 23:21, November 16, 2009 (UTC)

OK, I've confirmed it. The puff-shroom and the fume-shroom both do the same damage per shot (=1 pea); this can be confirmed by the fact that both kill a normal zombie in 10 shots. However, a fume-shroom kills a newspaper in 8 or 7 shots and kills the newspaper zombie 2-3 shots later, for 10 shots total; the puff-shroom takes about 8 shots to kill a newspaper and kills the zombie many more shots later; I would assume it's 10. Thus, the newspaper does nothing; it simply has less health, making you think that it can block.--RandomguY 23:21, November 16, 2009 (UTC)

Why is the newspaper damaged

because the spores attack everything that is not a plant of yours, including newspapers and screen doors...and ladders.

Questions for you

1. See strategy guide. What is "crazy dave level" supposed to mean? It's a MINIGAME. Crazy Dave just introduces it. 2. It would be helpful if you gave reasons for deletion. I agree with the current deletes, but...

Your wiki is not listed

The reason that wiki was started and was unaware of your wiki is because your not on this list. May want to get a helper to fix that. Devilmanozzy (Talk page) 14:30, November 30, 2009 (UTC)

Catapult Zombie

What was the purpose of changing the order of the links for the Catapult Zombie page?--RandomguY 01:38, December 2, 2009 (UTC)

Oops

I mean spikeweed, not Catapult Zombie. I hope you understood that part about the Peashooter talk.--RandomguY 01:52, December 2, 2009 (UTC)

Peashooters-Repeaters are better for taking out coneheads than peashooters, and plus, you don't need as much space; if you plant extra peashooters, the first one will end up closer to the start of the lawn, giving the zombies a better chance to kill. Plus, you'll replace the peashooters with repeaters anyway, so you might as well save sun. In addition, again, you can bypass peashooters with potato mines and go straight to the Repeaters, saving you sun overall AND giving you more in the initial ramp-up, so you can get your sunflowers up earlier.--RandomguY 02:02, December 2, 2009 (UTC)

Random Users

Hello again. I'm under the impression (don't know if you thought of this too) that the users whose talk page you edited actually edited a now-deleted page.--RandomguY 05:23, December 13, 2009 (UTC)

Grave

Instead of constantly undoing each others edits, please discuss the Grave page with Registered Contributor. It's much more constructive. I made a message on the talk page, but I'm putting it here to MAKE SURE you see it.--RandomguY 00:28, December 16, 2009 (UTC)

Umbrella Leaf

Your setup has one fewer sunflower than mine, and the same number of offensive plants...so I believe that mine is better and that, no offense, but we should ignore yours completely. Plus, the extra sunflower (and a tradeoff of an unnecessary umbrella leaf for a sunflower, giving 75 extra sun plus the extra production) makes my defense more solid, with a faster setup.--RandomguY 23:50, December 16, 2009 (UTC)

Yes, I agree that it is a matter of preference, but (no offense), I can't figure out why anybody would prefer your setup. It's like refusing to become rich without having anybody else lose anything because of your turning rich.--RandomguY 02:51, December 17, 2009 (UTC)
I don't see why there's more room for offensive plants. My setup has one fewer umbrella leaf and one extra sunflower, with a net difference of zero plants. Plus, everything is still protected. If you still have too much sun, I guess I can't argue anything except that perhaps I would get my plants up more quickly. Actually, I usually go straight to melon-pults, so I need all the sun I can get in the beginning. You probably don't, though, and a lot of others probably don't, so I guess it doesn't matter too much.--RandomguY 02:55, December 17, 2009 (UTC)
I didn't know I could do that. I guess you do have more space initially, but that 25 sun isn't that much :) That's actually the best argument I can come up with, since my design (as I see it) is only slightly superior to yours, especially with your extra sun.--RandomguY 03:02, December 17, 2009 (UTC)
Meh. Agreed. Perhaps we should leave comments on each one's advantages; yours has more space in the beginning, but mine has more sun in the beginning.--RandomguY 03:06, December 17, 2009 (UTC)

Favorite Plant Template?

There should be "Favorite Plant" templates for users to put on their user pages.

It would be an infobox, and the plant's image would appear next to "This user's favorite plant is [Plant Name]"

Questions, thoughts, comments?

I like the idea, thanks for making them.--Registered Contributor 00:50, December 21, 2009 (UTC)

I think that I accidentally deleted the image of the Twin Sunflower from the Gallery of Plants. I managed to get another one, but it is now slightly smaller than the other pictures. Can you try to replace it?--Registered Contributor 01:40, December 21, 2009 (UTC)

Merry Christmas

Assuming you celebrate it of course. Oh, and good work on the templates and such. You are a very good admin.--RandomguY 06:54, December 25, 2009 (UTC)

Thanks. I'll do my best. --RandomguY 00:27, December 30, 2009 (UTC)

Block of Me

I saw that you had blocked me from editing any more on this wiki. At first i was completely baffled as to why since I thought myself innocent to any offence. I crosschecked with all my edits and realized that it might be my Imitater edit that got med blocked. My intention was to change the double "he" further down on the page, but I also managed to hit the new line button twice, which was not my intention. RandomguY seems to have missed the double "he" edit when he changed it back to its original form. You can see that I have made some "not-gibberishly" edits beforehand: http://plantsvszombies.wikia.com/wiki/Special:Contributions/213.100.48.73.

I now ask you to revoke your block as it definitely isn't my intention to cause harm. If you still find it appropriate to let my block persist, then I won't bother you any more.

My IP is 213.100.48.73.

In light of this entry, I remind you that not all "vandalism", as in this case, is intentional; in this case, it was a mistake. Yes, I missed the second he. Most people are trying to help, and most people make mistakes; I suggest that the next time you detect "vandalism" that isn't obvious vandalism (for example, obvious vandalism would be replacing a page with JDSKLFJEKXLIV or something. Non-obvious vandalism would be changing a word to another that doesn't really make sense.) you should discuss it with the user. Anyway, I see the "unblock" option in the block log. The winter melon page was probably bad wording, and, looking into the block log, which is on the "Blocked IP addresses and usernames" page, you seem to have blocked a few people who may have simply been misled somehow. There are really 3 cases when someone inserts what you believe is vandalism, apart from the vandalism case. The first is that it is a mistake. The second is that the person believes it is true. The third is that the person is not...quite as professional...as we are, so to speak. Vandalism isn't actually quite that common; as I said, most people are good and trying to help; otherwise, Wikipedia would have crashed from the start, not to mention the bigger wikis connected to Wikia Central; we are lucky here, with dedicated users coming and going, dedicated ones such as FarmerBob, Snicker, etc. (those are mostly the ones in my time), and us. Anyway, that's getting off topic. When you ban someone, I suggest that you let them edit their own talk page so that we can discuss it.--RandomguY 18:16, January 2, 2010 (UTC)
Much obliged for the unblock. I have now created an account, as suggested by RandomguY. English is not my native language so perhaps my sentences will not always be perfect. I have to admit that I still don't regard my Winter Melon entry as wrong, even if RandomguY's sentence sounds better. But I do know that it is called "a unique" and not "an unique" which was re-edited by swampert rox in the Tree of Wisdom page. Proof of this can be found in any book of grammar or anywhere on the Internet, e.g. here: http://wordwhirled.blogspot.com/2005/12/unique-or-unique.html. --SorkeN 20:52, January 3, 2010 (UTC)
Everything depends on what is meant by "the list". I meant it as being a list of plants delivering heavy damage over time and thereby efficiently wreaking havoc among the zombies, i.e. not a list of auto-fire plants — and the Cob Cannon was the last mentioned noun. Hence, the comparison would be between the Cob Cannon, the Winter Melon and the Gloom-shroom. Doesn't matter, though.--SorkeN 02:42, January 4, 2010 (UTC)

Preference

By the way, I'm getting slightly irritated at seeing "a matter of preference" everywhere; as far as I know, if we don't explicitly say which method is better, it's implied that it is "a matter of preference". Anyway, nobody is forcing the readers of this wiki to use a specific strategy.--RandomguY 01:04, January 4, 2010 (UTC)

Why was he/she blocked?RandomguY 05:58, February 25, 2010 (UTC)

One offense, for such a long ban? And also, while it is more likely that that is false, it would make sense, as the name is closer to I, Zombie than I, Robot. In addition, he/she made non-spam other contributions, hence non-vandal.--RandomguY 00:04, February 26, 2010 (UTC)
Well, people make mistakes. It's easy for someone to believe something and post it, even if the belief is incorrect. You don't have to be a vandal to post something that isn't true.--RandomguY 17:43, February 27, 2010 (UTC)
I doubt that. I just unblocked him. If you go to the block log (Go to the special pages page on the side-menu, and clock blocked IPs and Usernames or something), you see the blocker, time, etc. and at the end we have two options, unblock and change block.--RandomguY 18:17, February 27, 2010 (UTC)

Blover (and Gold Magnet) "beats"

I want to go over this Blover and Gold Magnet bounce/beat issue. It's pretty trivial (heck, it's even in the trivia section, heh), but the facts need to be presented clearly. The number of beats in anything refers to all of the beats in one cycle: for example, a song in 4/4 time is four beats per measure; your heart beats are measured in beats per minute. That said, the Blover's and Gold Magnet's BOUNCE CYCLES (one animation sequence) have four BEATS over three POSITIONS. They are: left, middle (coming from left, heading rightward), right, and middle (coming from right, heading leftward). While there are three emphasized positions, the two middle positions still have different contexts. Please check the almanac. Four beats: left, middle, right, middle. Left middle right middle. Left middle right middle. NOT three beats; NOT left, middle, right; left, middle, right; left, middle, right. Seeing as how all the music in the game is in 4/4 time and how closely the music is tied into the game*, it's clear why nothing has cycles that aren't multiples or divisors of four. So you either call it three bounce positions or four-beat bounces/cycles/animations. And I'd rather go with the latter because the former implies the plants bounce around randomly, and they definitely do not - they each have one passive animation sequence that is repeated endlessly. Also, on a less factual note, but still in support of my argument, I like to think the plants are dancing! *When there are more zombies on the field, the background music gets more intense. When you click coins, the notes may seem random, but they actually always complement the key of the background song at the time.Gary on PvZ 13:51, March 5, 2010 (UTC)

  • Thanks for clearing up what you meant. Excuse the semantics, but I just gotta put the right terms in there... don't wanna be ambiguous about it.

See also

Hi!

I noticed that you are adding a section to all articles called "see also", which contains wikilinks to the topics mentioned in the article. In many cases, this is unnecessary, for the following reasons:

  1. Most words already have links in the text body
  2. All related articles on the same topic are already in the same category

If one of these reasons already are fulfilled, then i think they are a much better way of linking than manually editing a "see also"-list on all articles. Thank you for your work on this wiki. --85.228.201.57 13:45, March 14, 2010 (UTC)

SPE (Survival Pool:Endless) Builds

A good build for Survuval:Endless is not decided on how much space one uses, however the balance of all types of zombies it could react to and the ability to become stable. Leaving one empty space in the back rows makes it possible to use only one Gloom-shroom against Digger Zombies without harming Pumpkins. Leaving plenty of space in the front makes it easy for the Gloom-Shrooms to pin down weak zombies and saves cob launches, as well as giving off Doom-Shrooms

Blocking tips

I noticed that, while going through the block list, that you have blocked serious offenders for only a year. I suppose that this is due to "1 year" being the largest frame of time in the expiry drop-box when blocking someone. Personally, I think that one year is not quite sufficient; if you want to set it to something longer, set the expiry to "Other" and change the box below it to whatever date (keep it in the same format, though). This is about as close to a permaban as we can get, and personally, I think that permabans are ideal in some cases, and while we can't permaban, to my knowledge, setting the ban to Dec 31, 2999 should be close enough. I guess you could do Dec 31, 9999 instead, but meh.RandomguY 03:55, May 19, 2010 (UTC)

Achievements

Hi, I'm Paweł from Wikia Gaming team. As you may have noticed on other wikis, such as Red Dead Wiki or SWTOR Wiki, Wikia has recently introduced an Achievement extension.

The goal of achievements is to help encourage people to make more edits and contribute to the wiki. They also help brand new people get a feel for what they can do on the wiki by showing them various challenges. Awards are only available for logged-in users, so they’ll help encourage people to log in when they’re making edits. You can see an achievement leaderboard here.
