Marigold

Sorry, didn't get to finish my summary on why I deleted it. I meant to say Nice that they might be flowers. But, I couldn't find it anywhere, tried to google and even wikipedia. Without a reference to your Trivia, I have the right to disagree about it until I'm proven wrong. I see no information to back up this, so I decided to remove it. If I'm wrong, please enlighten me. Also, you should put this in the Category:Mushrooms page or the Plants page, as the Marigold, been a flower, talking about flowers and mushrooms out of the sudden seems kind of odd. To require someone making a statement of fact to provide proof is reasonable. So here you have it: American Cyclopaedia - Mushroom. I quote the relevant passage, "That which is popularly recognized as the mushroom corresponds to the inflorescence in other plants."

As far as where this piece of trivia properly belongs, I put it where I did because I was challenging the statement that the Marigold and Sunflowers are the only flowers in the game. It might be more appropriate as a parenthetical statement, rather than as the run-on sentence which I wrote. I might also point out that if the Chomper is supposed to be something like a Venus Fly Trap, then it is a flower, too. KennKong 01:52, February 5, 2011 (UTC)

I think you just took that phrase out of context. It says that what we call mushroom or the cap, is similar to inflorescence in plants; it doesn't say the mushrooms are indeed flowers. Flowers are much different to mushrooms, as they are the reproductive system of some plants. Most mushrooms are asexual, reproduce through meiosis or spores (which is kind of similar to pollination but not the same). Most of all, and the simplest answer is that mushrooms are fungi and flowers are a part of a plant. If it was a flower, then it would be labelled as a plant. Anyway, believe what you want, I won't delete it. Trivia should be relevant to the game at some degree, this is not an encyclopedia, no need to get too technical. Well, I have to agree that it is irrelevant to the game, so I removed it. KennKong 15:40, February 5, 2011 (UTC)

Re: Winter Melon

Err.. I didn't make those entries. Someone else did, I just corrected them the best I could. I'm kind of tired to remove so much Trivia like that since it makes me feel bad and sometimes people complain. You are more than welcome to delete it if you want, and also other silly trivias from other pages; you would be helping me, since it seems I'm the only one who does clean up here.
