Card Clash (牌面纷争; pinyin: Pái Miàn Fēnzhēng) is a gamemode in the Chinese version of Plants vs. Zombies 2. It is a card collecting mode in the style of a tower defense, yet quite different from the regular tower defense gameplay in this game.

Unlike other lawns, this lawn is a 7x13 lawn, with a total of 91 tiles. The 6 leftmost columns of the lawn belong to the player, in which they can play their own deck on that area. The 7 rightmost columns of the lawn belong to the enemy Elite Zombie, in which he will use to his advance. The player's house has a health bar, where the house gets damaged every time a zombie reaches it, and the damage caused is the same regardless of the type of zombie.

There are no plants present in this gamemode at all, instead the player utilizes zombie decks against the Elite Zombie's skills, trying to defeat him. Whenever an ally zombie meets an enemy zombie to its adjacent lanes, the ally zombie will be diverted to the lane of the enemy zombie, which will end up in a fight against each other. Once an ally zombie reaches the enemy Elite Zombie from adjacent lanes, it will also be diverted to the Elite Zombie's lane, starting to attack it. However, when the ally zombies are near the Elite Zombie, they will continuously take electric damage from the 2 electric poles placed above and below the Elite Zombie, which are placed at the beginning of every level and can not be destroyed by any means.

The main goal of each level is to defeat the Elite Zombie present. There are a total of 7 Elite Zombies in this gamemode, each a different one with different set of skills.

Elite Zombie Skills Special
Elite Chicken Wrangler Zombie 1. Summons Chicken Gravestones which spawn Zombie Chickens until destroyed.
2. Jumps up and down and releases a horde of Zombie Chickens in its lane and the adjacent lanes.
Elite Barrel Roller Zombie 1. Sends 2 barrels that roll forward, which will break upon contact with a player's unit whilst also damaging that unit. Upon breaking, 2 Imp Pirate Zombies will be released on the adjacent lanes.
2. Sends an explosive barrel that rolls forward, which will explode in upon contact with a player's unit, damaging all player's units in a 3x3 area.
Elite Imp Cannon 1. Fires an Imp Pirate Zombie on a random tile on the player's side.
2. Fires an additional Imp Pirate Zombie every time it fires one.
3. Fires cannonballs onto the player's units, that explode in a 3x3 by area, damaging the player's units.
Elite Archmage Zombie 1. Hypnotises the player's units, one at a time, and each time the one that has the most health.
2. Sends 2 Shield Zombies.
Elite Mirror Queen Zombie 1. Sends 2 Guard Gargantuars. 5 Magic Mirrors will be placed near the enemy base at the beginning of the level, that clones the enemy zombies.
2. Throws an apple towards a player's unit, which will immobilize it and damage it over time for several seconds. Graves are prioritized.
3. For every Magic Mirror broken, it will increase the amount of apples thrown during Skill 2.
Elite Disco-tron 3000 1. Sends 2 Disco-tron 3000s. At first, begins using the set of skills as regularly. Once its healthbar reaches to the half, it will then start using both skills simultaneously during the turns.
2. Sends 3 Zombie Fighters.
Elite Onmyoji Zombie 1. Creates 2 Gargantuar Tents that continuously spawn Shogun Gargantuars until destroyed. Cursed Card:
Costs 1 sun. Upon used, the curse deminishes. If the card is still in the player's hand after the round ends, the player's house will begin taking percentile damage due to the curse.
2. Creates 3 Imp Tents that continuously spawn Ninjimps until destroyed.
3. Puts 3 Cursed Cards into the player's deck.
4. Blows Divine Winds that push the enemy zombies ahead.

The player can play different cards and keep collecting cards through beating levels. The player will be prompted to pick one from three cards displayed every time a level is cleared, which will be added to his deck collection. The player in addition begins with some default cards in their deck. Due to enormous variety of cards existing, the player can reset the progress of the mode, which will begin from the 1st level again, to retry collecting different sets of cards to expand the entertainment. The set of cards are as follows:

  • Basic Zombies: Sends 3 Basic Zombies.
  • Exploding Zombie: Sends 1 Exploding Zombie.
  • Robo-Cone Zombie: Sends 1 Robo-Cone Zombie.
  • Missile Launch: Can be played anywhere on the lawn, causing high damage to a single tile, and able to damage the enemy Elite Zombie.
  • Basic Gravestone: Summons a Basic Gravestone in a selected tile that spawns Basic Zombies. Upgrading the gravestone will make it spawn Buckethead Zombies instead.
  • Mini Zombie Chickens: Sends 20 small Zombie Chickens in a 3x3 selected area.
  • Gargantuar Prime: Sends 1 Gargantuar Prime.
  • Chicken Gravestone: Summons a Chicken Gravestone in a selected tile that spawns Zombie Chickens. Upgrading the gravestone thrice will make it spawn Ice Weasels.
  • Rage Potion: Can be played anywhere on the lawn, increasing the power and speed of the player's units by 100% in a single tile.
  • Shield Potion: Can be played anywhere on the lawn, granting an invincibility shield for 10 seconds in a 3x3 area.
  • Gravestone Upgrade: Select a Gravestone to upgrade, to make it spawn zombies of one tier higher.
  • Cavalry Zombie: Sends 1 Cavalry Zombie.
  • Lightning Gun Zombie: Sends 1 Lightning Gun Zombie.
  • Shooter Gravestone: Summons a Shooter Gravestone in a selected tile that spawns Lightning Gun Zombies in a selected tile. The gravestone can be upgraded up to 3 times.
  • Electromagnetic Shield Zombie: Sends 1 Shield Zombie.
  • Firewall: Can be played anywhere on the lawn, causing damage to enemy zombies within 3 columns, and able to damage the enemy Elite Zombie.
  • Magic Mirror: Summons a Magic Mirror in a selected tile that will clone any medium and large sized zombies that enter through it.
  • Zombie Cloning: After the card is played, the number of summons for the next 2 cards played will be doubled, gravestone cards are not affected by this.
  • Disco-tron 3000: Sends 1 Disco-tron 3000.
  • Zombie Fighter: Sends 1 Zombie Fighter.
  • Acceleration Scepter: Summons an Acceleration Staff in a selected tile that speeds up the productivity of the nearby gravestones by 50%.
  • Curse: If the card is still in the player's hands after the end of the round, the house will be lose 10% of their max HP.

Each card has different statistics, quality, and sun cost.
