Beginner's Guide: Survival: Fog (Endless) builds

Survival: Fog (Endless) is similar to Survival: Endless, and some Survival: Endless/Strategies can be used here. Since it takes place at night, Coffee Beans are not needed to activate mushrooms.

Classic 8 Cob

This is very much the fog variation of the pool 8 Cob. You should launch a pair of Cob Cannons every 9 seconds.

The tempo is Night 4: Cob | Ice - Cob | Ice - Cob | Doom; 9 | 18 | 18 | 9. You just have to repeat the steps below. The first Cob's timing is the same as the timing of the Classic 8 cob.

  1. When Dancing Zombies turn/Digger Zombies reach the middle of column 8/Zomboni reach column 9/Ballon Zombies reach column 9/Dolphin Rider Zombies throw their dolphins into the pool, launch a pair of Cobs.
  2. Use an Imitater Ice-shroom approximately 1 second after the Cobs land.
  3. Launch another pair of Cob Cannons 12 seconds after the new wave of Zombies spawns
  4. Use the normal Ice-shroom immediately after a new wave of Zombies spawns
  5. Launch another pair of Cob Cannons 12 seconds after the new wave of Zombies spawns
  6. Use a Doom-shroom: 6 seconds after a new wave of zombies spawns.

P.S. the Fume-shrooms on 1-5 and 6-5 are not immune to Bungee Zombies. Plant them back if they are stole.

Rear Cobless

One Cob Suppression

This strategy is very differnt from the traditional cobless builds in Survival: Endless. At night, Ice-shrooms cannot be stored at night, so cobless builds in Survival: Fog (Endless) have a lower DPS in order to slow down the tempo. They use similar structure as the One Cob Suppression.

Rear cobless

Slow tempo

The tempo is Card 3 + DPS (C3IO) when there are Giga-gargangtuars. You use the sequence: Doom-shroom | Imitater Ice-shroom | Ice-shroom + Cherry Bomb + Jalapeno. You can also add an extra Fume-shroom on rows 1 and 6 to deal extra damage to the Giga-gargangtuars. When the Giga-gargangtuars disappear, the tempo becomes Card 4 + DPS. You use the sequence: Doom-shroom | Imitater Ice-shroom | Ice-shroom | Cherry Bomb + Jalapeno to suppress Jack-in-the-Box Zombies. You can put the Cherry Bomb on row 3 or 4 to kill the Jacks on row 2 or 5.

Extreme fast tempo

It is very difficult for the Receding Cobless build to 100% suppress Jack-in-the-Box Zombies in the extreme fast tempo (Card 5 + DPS). The main idea is to suppress one row 2 using instants and putting an extra Fume-shroom on row 5 to try to kill the Jacks before they explode. When you are unlucky, Jacks may take out the Gloom-shroom on 4-7, but it is okay, since you can bring the Gloom-shroom seed packet and replant it after the 2 extreme fast tempo flags. 7 Twin Sunflowers are enough to compensate the loss.

Extreme variable tempo

This one is the hardest. You have to prepare for both the slow and the extreme fast tempo. One way is to change the Fume-shroom on 5-4 to a Gloom-shroom and put an extra Fume-shroom on 5-6. This will greatly alleviate the pressure on row 6. You can use Squash against Gigas on row 1. When Gigas are present, the tempo is mainly Card 4 + DPS. You should constantly use Fume-shrooms to stall Gigas and damage them. After Gigas stop spawning, you should switch to the Card 5 + DPS tempo explained above. The extreme variable tempo levels will cost you about 500 suns because you have to add a Gloom-shroom, but 7 Twin Sunflowers are enough to recover.

An alternative strategy on extreme variable tempo is to bring Spikeweed and Garlic instead of Fume-shroom and Gloom-shroom. You still use instants on row 2 to suppress Jacks. However, on row 5, you use Spikeweed to poke Zombonis and then use Garlic to induce Jacks onto row 6, where they will be killed by the Fume-shrooms. Theoretically, this strategy can 100% suppress Jacks, but it is for advanced players. Here is an example.

Ballon Zombies can be a threat in extreme fast and extreme variable tempos. Although a single Cattail can usually pop all ballons, it sometimes fail. You can replace a Twin Sunflower by an extra Cattail.

The structure of traditional builds and common variants

Jack suppression

Since you are not allowed to store Ice-shrooms at night, the traditional pool Gloom builds do not apply here. During fast tempos, there are not enough instants to suppress Jack Zombies. Therefore, Gloom-shrooms in Survial: Fog (Endless) often recede to the 6th or 7th column. They have less DPS, but optimize the use of Doom-shroom, as it can cover all 6 rows.

Kills jacks during its non-exploding interval

This build can suppress Jacks on rows 2 and 5. If Jacks are frozen 3 seconds after they spawn, the 5% early-exploding Jacks will not take out the Gloom-shrooms, and the remaining 95% will be killed by Fume-shroom and Gloom-shrooms during their 5.68-second non-exploding period.

Natural suppression

This structure can suppress 100% of the Jacks on row 1 and 99.91% of the Jacks if used on row 6. The Fume-shrooms will kill Jacks before the Jacks take out other plants.

Below are some common structures against Giga-gargangtuar, Zomboni, Football Zombie and Jack-in-the-Box Zombie:

Digger Zombies and Imps

Modern builds for skilled players

Intelligent Cobless

Intelligent Cobless

This strategy is built for 100% Jack suppression, but other Zombies may be tougher to deal with. You need a rotation of instants to kill Giga-Gargangtuars, Zombonis, and Football Zombies. The main tempo is Card 4 + DPS: Doom-shroom | Imitater Doom-shroom | Cherry Bomb | Jalapeno + Ice + Squash. Cherry is used on 1-8. Jalapeno is used immediately after a new wave spawns, killing Zombonis and Footballs from the previous wave and the current wave. Then, Squash is used on 1-8 to kill Zombonis and Footballs. It is also compatible with Card 3 tempo: Doom | Ice + Imitater Doom | Cherry + Jala + Squash, but generally Card 4 + DPS is more comfortable to play.

Gloomless Cobless

This is an extension of the Intelligent Cobless. The main idea is still to use a rotation of instants to kill Giga-Gargangtuars, Zombonis, and Football Zombies. However, for this one, you need instants for every lane. Instead of Gloom-shroom, this strategy uses Starfruit spam to kill Digger Zombies, Imps, Dolphin Rider Zombies, and low-health Gigas.

There are many versions of this:

Fume-shroom Gloomless
  • The old Fume-shroom version optimizes for Jack suppression. Fume-shroom’s long-ranged AOE attack can kill Jack-in-the-Box Zombies hidden in a horde of other zombies. The Fume-shrooms can also provide significant damage to Gigas. They are also easy to repair. However, this structure has very limited firepower towards the back. It has significant Pumpkin stress from Diggers, Imps, and Dolphins.
Starfruit Gloomless
  • Later, people found out that precise Card 3 tempo (18 | 16 | 16) can kill late Jacks before they explode. Fume-shrooms are no longer necessary. More Starfruits are used in order to hit Digger Zombies and Dolphin Rider Zombies more efficiently. The Pumpkin stress is still big, but acceptable. Also, it does not have good Jack suppression on fast tempos.
Spikerock Gloomless
  • An alternative plant for Starfruit is Spikerock. It is specialized against Diggers. It has very little Pumpkin stress. However, Spikerock cannot always kill Imps. Even with the help of Split Pea and other Starfuits, there is still a very small chance for an Imp to bypass the defense and go into your house. Also, because of the lack of Starfruits, Gigas are slightly tougher to deal with.

A common card sequence for these builds is Card 3. For the first half, use Ice - Doom | Imitater Doom | Cherry + Jala + Squash; 18 | 16 | 16. Specifically, put Ice immediately after spawning, Doom 15 seconds after spawning, Imitater Doom 10s, Cherry/Jala 13s, and Squash 12s. This can perfectly stop Ice trail on column 7 and kill Jacks before they explode.

For the second half, use Doom | Ice + Imitater Doom | Cherry + Jala + Squash; 16 | 18 | 16. The Ice wave may be delayed for a few seconds in order to freeze Diggers. This one cannot stop Ice trail or suppress Jacks perfectly, but it's better against Diggers and Dolphins. Specifically, put Doom/Cherry/Jala 13 seconds after spawning, Squash 12s, and Ice + Imitater Doom after Diggers emerge from the left side (about 13.6s).

There are several ways to protect the Imitater from Snorkel Zombies and Ducky Tube Zombies:

  • Ice
  • Pumpkin
  • On column 9 (for the first 5 waves, where there are no Ducky Tubes)
  • On column 7 (if Snorkels are slowed down)
