Talking Zombatar was a canceled virtual pet game. The game was announced on July 26, 2012, and was planned to be released in late 2012.[1][2] The player could dress up their zombie, train them to dance, shoot videos with them, earn daily rewards, and even take pictures with them. They were also going to repeat everything the player said.[3] Although the game was announced by PopCap, it was never released to the public as planned. However, there was a trailer released for the game.[4]

- It is one of four canceled Plants vs. Zombies games, with the other three being the Plants vs. Zombies: The Board Game, Project Hot Tub, 'and 'Plants vs. Zombies: Kingdom Edition.
- Talking Zombatar is notable for being the only one that was in a digital format, as well as the only one to have a trailer released.
- Allen Murray, a former PopCap employee, revealed that the game was scrapped because it didn't meet PopCap's standards.[5]
- Although the game is directed by people from within the company, the game was made by an external team, not an internal PopCap team. That external team is from China.[6][7]
- The external team is from another different team, not the PopCap Shanghai team.[8]
- The game's trailer was uploaded by Winda Benedetti, who work as a writer for Plants vs. Zombies 2 and Plants vs. Zombies Heroes.
