FAQ

2020 Flags???

• I use a cheat engine to skip the beginning flags in order to simulate maximum zombie density. The default setting for the cheat engine is 8000 sun and 2020 flags.

How do you pause the game?

• By pressing SPACE. While the game is paused, you can also drag and move the "game paused" window.

Is pause spamming considered as cheating?

• No. Although it looks ugly, it is part of the game

Why don't you use Starfruit, Threepeater, ...?

• Try them, and see if they work well

What if you make a mistake?

• In some easy strategies, I rarely make mistakes
• In other challenging strategies (intermediate and advanced), if I make a mistake, I just restart...

What do "slow tempo", "fast tempo", "variable tempo" mean?

Why are some builds labeled as "non cob" even if they have Cob Cannons?

• In "cob" builds (such as Classic 4 Cob), the main damage is dealt by Cob Cannons. Cob Cannons and other instants control the tempo. However, in "non cob" builds, other plants (mainly Gloom-shroom) and instants control the tempo.

Why do you use Imitater Pumpkin?

• They look good. They contribute to nothing significant to zombies.

Some of the strategies seem weak. Can they actually survive endlessly?

• Honestly, lots of the builds CANNOT. If every Jack explodes early, every flag is either extremely slow or extremely fast, it's very easy to die. With perfect play, some builds are very stable (classic 12 cob), but if you make a mistake (missing a Dancing Zombie), you may die.

Basic knowledge

1. There are 20waves of zombies between two card selections. Among all the waves, wave10 and wave 20 are “huge waves of zombies”. Zombie desity increases significantly in huge waves.

2. Zombie Bobsled Teamsnever appear in EL

3. After playing 20 flags, 9 to 11 kinds of zombies appear in every card selection.

4. In the first five waves of every card selection, Ducky Tube Zombies never appear. BalloonZombies don’t appear on the pool.

5. Bungee zombies only appears in “huge waves of zombies”, in the twentieth wave of PE & FE, three zombies emerges randomly at the right four columns of the pool (Zombie,Conehead Zombie or Bucket Zombie).

6. Gargantuars and Giga-gargantuars throw IMPs if their HP become lower than half of the total before they reach to the middle of column 5. In DE & NE & PE & FE, IMPs land on column 2/3/4, the landing point is random and roughly correlated with gargantuars’ position.

1. The law of zombies’ spawning:

(1) Next wave of zombies never spawns before six seconds after the current wave.

(2) Next wave of zombies may spawn at any time before 25 seconds after this wave.

(3) Next wave of zombies spawn six seconds after this wave if this wave of zombies have gotenough damage in the first four seconds after they spawn.

In other words:

(1) The minimum interval between two waves is 6 seconds.

(2) When you launchtwo Cob Cannons or use a Doom-shroom to attack the whole wave of zombies, next wave of zombies will probably spawn in 2 seconds.

About plants:

1. The cooldown of Cob Cannons is 34.75s.

2. The cooldown of Ice-shrooms, Doom-shrooms, Cherry Bombs and Jalapenos is 50s. The cooldown of Squashes is 30s.

3. The effect of Ice-shrooms is: For zombies already slowed down, 3 to 4 seconds of freezing and 20 seconds of slowing down, for zombies not slowed down, 4 to 6 seconds of freezing and 20 seconds of slowing down. All zombies being frozen get 20 damage, the same as a pea.

PS: the 20-second slowing down includes the seconds freezing.
