Backyard Big Top - Level 17
Backyard Big Top - Level 17 is the seventeenth level of the Backyard Big Top Thymed Event in Plants vs. Zombies 2. It is a Locked and Loaded level, with the player's plant levels being set to level 1. When this level is finished the player gets nothing.
Difficulty
This level is quite difficult unless the player boosts plants. No stalling plants are given, meaning that they will have to start placing Primal Peashooters right away. Not only that, the level starts with a carnie imp split, and one will need 3 Primal Peashooters for that. The zombie horde will also turn out to be relentless. To win without a boosted Sun-shroom/Primal Peashooter/Garlic, you will have to try to plant as many Primal Peashooters as possible, while gaining lots of sun (which is really difficult due to the cost) and hold off placing Rotobagas until later on, when the level is more "settled." One should not rely on Garlic or the pre-placed Tall-nuts due to how Garlic lacks responsibility and may cause troublesome clusters, and Tall-nut often is eaten very quickly due to the sheer amount of Carnie Imp Twins.
Waves
- The small number next to the zombie icon means that zombie will always appear in that lane, with 1 being the topmost lane and 5 being the bottommost lane.

Strategies
- Start normally by planting Sun-shrooms and Gold Blooms.
- Start setting up a defense with Primal Peashooters, plant them on lanes with Tall-nut first, then on the other lanes. One column is enough, although two also helps.
- When the first Carnie Imp Twins appear on row 3, divert them with Garlic, then plant Rotobagas behind the Tall-nuts so that it can clear out the Carnie Imp Splits that will burst out of them.
- Plant more Rotobagas until there is at least two columns of them on lanes behind the Tall-nuts.
- When there are many zombies in one place, use Garlic to divert them to other lanes.
- Once you have enough sun, replace a few Sun-shrooms with either Primal Peashooters or Rotobagas.
- If a Carnie Imp lands on an undesirable spot, knock them back or shovel a plant and divert it with Garlic.
- Use Plant Food in case of emergencies, such as when there's multiple Imps on the same row, or when the Tall-nuts are down to their last degrade.
