Backyard Big Top - Level 30

Backyard Big Top - Level 30 is the thirtieth and final level of the Backyard Big Top Thymed Event in Plants vs. Zombies 2. The player must defeat the evil Dr. Zomboss once again in his circus-themed creation, the Zombot Catastro-liope. When this level is finished the player gets 50 Teleportato Mine seed packets.

Difficulty

  • The Zombot can use its cannon attacks to fire several armored Carnie Imps into random rows.
  • The Zombot can use its charge attacks to destroy all plants and zombies in two rows.

Strategies

Tips

  • Start planting as soon as Zombot Catastro-liope starts spawning in zombies.
  • While charging, plant instant-use plants or use Plant Food on a plant that's on the Zombot's path to temporarily stun it. This gives the player more time to plant more or waiting for a very important, slow recharging plant to recharge.
  • If it fires off Carnie Imps, plant a Blover to blow them away, as having more high-health zombies on the lawn can allow dangerous zombies like Firebreather Zombie to burn more plants.
  • Just like other Zombots, Zombot Catastro-liope can spawn different zombies depending on the phase, these are as follows:
    • Phase 1: Firebreather Zombie is this phase's main threat, however the chance of the Zombot spawning them is small. Just in case, plant ice plants to keep this zombie in check.
    • Phase 2: Firebreather Zombie is now joined with Magician Zombie, and can possibly wipe out an entire lane if not taken care of. Take out Magician Zombie before it can perform either of its abilities. Meanwhile, continue to chill any oncoming Firebreather Zombies.
    • Phase 3: The final phase. Zomboss now spawns the entire circus, which includes Strongman Gargantuars. Along with Firebreathers and Magicians, these zombies can wreck havock on the lawn one way or another. If the Gargantuar successfully throws Carnie Imp Twins, get rid of them immediately as their high-damage bites will easily tear through the first three columns. In addition, when Carnie Imp Twins split off, be sure to also get rid of the Carnie Imp Splits before they can trigger any lawnmowers.
  • As the player uses their own plants here instead of getting them from the conveyor-belt, sun management is extremely important. Try to have enough sun for a Blover or an instant-use plant in case if Zomboss uses his other attacks, or for an explosive plant if things go south.

Strategy 1

All of these plants play a major role in defeating the zomboss. This strategy will make quick work of the zombot, even with low level plants.

  • Required plants:
    • Heath Seeker2.png
    • Spear-mint2.png
    • Pokra2.png
    • Bombard-mint2.png
  • At the beginning of the boss fight, DO NOT PLANT ANYTHING. Wait for a few zombies to spawn, then use Bombard-mint to take them out, as well as the nearby tombstones.
  • Then, get to work placing Pokras, which will do damage to the boss. Next, use Spear-mint, and dig up the excess Spikerocks as they give you sun.
  • You need to quickly place Heath Seeker, which will trigger the next phase, as it is boosted by Spear-mint.
  • You will have acquired many Plant Food from the zombies you have killed. Use one to recharge Spear-mint quickly. Before using it, however, make sure 2 or 3 Pokras are in front of the boss.
  • When that deactivates, instantly recharge it again. If Heath Seeker recharges, only use it when it is boosted, as this will almost always complete a phase. Sun will likely not be a problem because you will constantly be digging up Spikerocks.

  • This is the only Boss fight in the International version outside of Arena or Penny's Pursuit that allows the player to choose their own plants.
