"Despite the decline of circuses in recent years, I refuse to give up on a form of entertainment with so much history and plant-destroying potential," cackles Dr. Zomboss, all while tapping out a jaunty little tune on his keyboard.

Zombot Catastro-liope is the boss of the Backyard Big Top Thymed Event in Plants vs. Zombies 2. It is encountered in the Level 30 of the event.

In Arena, defeating the Catastro-liope will award 10000 points, increasing by 10000 points each time the Catastro-liope is defeated. Higher leagues will increase a multiplier for points scored, with a maximum of 5x in Jade league.

Overview

The Zombot Catastro-liope approximately absorbs 22000 damage per shot, and its appearance changes upon absorbing 5500 and 11000 damage per shot, before dying at 22000 damage per shot.

• The "eye" will open and reveal a cannon. It will then fire three to eight Carnie Imps into the third or fourth column, resembling the Imp Cannon's explosion. Using Plant Food on most plants can prevent it.
• It will tap the ground, step back, and charge, destroying any plants and zombies in two rows, stopping near the lawn mowers and jumping back. As with the Zombot Sphinx-inator, Zombot Plank Walker, Zombot War Wagon and Zombot Tomorrow-tron's similar attack, using Plant Food can prevent it. It will also stop and be stunned if it collides with an instant-use plant.

Trivia

• It is the first spider-like Zombot since Zombot Tomorrow-tron, which was released 7 and a half years prior to Zombot Catastro-liope as well as the first new Zombot to be released since Zombot Dinotronic Mechasaur, which was also released 7 years prior.
  • However, in terms of attack, it bears more similarity to Zombot Plank Walker and, in terms of appearance, has more similarity to Zombot War Wagon.
  • The way it enters the lawn is exactly the same as Zombot War Wagon.
• It and Zombot Multi-stage Masher are the only Zombots that do not use any of the generic Zomboss themes.
  • It is also the only Zombot to be event-exclusive and not belong to any specific world.
• Due to an oversight, its almanac description is in red text instead of brown.
  • This has been fixed in the 9.5.1 update.
• This is the first Zombot in Plants vs. Zombies 2 that cannot be battled in Adventure Mode.
• Unlike the other Zombots, Zomboss only makes sound effects while charging. Otherwise, he is completely silent.
• Due to Thymed Event levels using their own outro, the Catastro-liope's exit animation goes completely unused.
