Disinfection Zombie

Disinfection Zombie (消毒水僵尸, pinyin: Xiāodúshuǐ Jiāngshī) is the second unique zombie encountered in Memory Lane. Being limited to only appearing in pool stages, he will enter the pool frequently throughout the level to poison the water and deal 10 damage to every plant in the water. After attacking a varying number of times, he will leave the pool and lawn on his own. Similar to the Missile Zombie, he can not be targeted nor damaged by plants however, unlike the aforementioned zombie, the Disinfection Zombie will not appear alongside the other zombies on the plant selection screen nor does the player have a means of defeating it.

Origins

The Disinfection Zombie is based on a pool cleaner and a scuba diver.

Overview

When the zombie enters the pool, he stops and deals 10 damage to each plant in the water ten to twenty times before leaving the lawn. He cannot be damaged by plants, inflicted by status effects, nor forced to retreat early by any means.

Strategies

Due to the weak attack power of this zombie, plants such as Aloe and Peach are helpful in counteracting the poison damage dealt to plants around them and Lily Pad underneath them. If neither of these plants are brought into the stage, one can use the Healing Artifact which can be unlocked freely, unlike most other artifacts.

Trivia

• Both the Disinfection Zombie and Electromagnetic Shield Generator are similar in that they both debuted in Memory Lane and neither show up on the plant selection screen alongside the rest of the other zombies which appear in the level.
• While he cannot be hurt by plants, certain ones such as Heath Seeker will attempt to attack him anyways but constantly miss.
  • Internally, Disinfection Zombie has 500 HP.
• His spritesheet contains assets from the Steam Age basic zombies, meaning his sprites were most likely built from them. This also explains why he has an unused death animation.
• Disinfection Zombie is internally classified as a Renaissance Age zombie, not only with his home world being set there, but his codename even being renai_toxicwater, with renai being the codename for Renaissance Age.
  • This may be because some of his code/assets are built off of Perfume Zombie.
