He was created by Dr. Zomboss to be the nemesis of Wallnut and his kin, but all Nutcracker wanted was to “crack” jokes... too bad he's "nut" so good at it.

Nutcracker Zombie is a zombie in Plants vs. Zombies 2 encountered in the Feastivus and Mega Gatling Pea's Winter Adventure Thymed Events. He absorbs just as much damage as the Brickhead Zombie and Grinderhead Zombie, while his nut chops do 50% max health damage to applicable nut plants, effectively destroying them in two hits.

Origin

He is based on the Nutcracker dolls and also based on Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's ballet The Nutcracker and as well as several adaptations of the ballet of the same name (such as the 2018 Disney film The Nutcracker and the Four Realms).

His name is a reference to his ability to deal a huge damage to Nut plants and the tool with the same name.

Overview

Nutcracker Zombie absorbs 2390 damage and its appearance change upon absorbing 725, 1450, 2178 (when it loses its helmet), 2190 (when he loses his nut chopper), 2200 (when he loses his wind up key), and 2295 damage before dying at 2390 damage.

The Nut Chop attack does damage equivalent to 50% max health to the following plants:

• Wall-nut
• Tall-nut
• Infi-nut
• Primal Wall-nut
• Pea-nut
• Explode-O-Nut
• Murkadamia Nut

Nutcracker Zombie is also immune to various sources of knockback (including from Plant Food effects):

• Primal Peashooter's attacks can still stun him.
• Chard Guard doesn't even react to him, allowing him to eat the plant directly.
• Boingsetta's attacks can still chill him.
• Spring Bean ignores him and will still bounce him back.

Strategies

Barring his crushing nut chops and immunity to certain status effects, the Nutcracker Zombie isn't terribly different from your average Brickhead variant, able to absorb the same exact amount of damage. You'll primarily rely on brute force or a few other intricate solutions, but that sums up all this zombie has.

Trivia

• He is the second Brickhead variant with a special ability, the first one being Grinderhead Zombie.
• Despite his Almanac entry claiming that he can also make short work of "some Wall-like plants," his ability strictly only works on nuts. Endurian and the like are unaffected.
• He loses both arms instead of just one.
• He is the only Brickhead variant to not have the suffix "head" in his name. In addition, he is also the only Brickhead variant to be affected by Magnet-shroom, who can disable his ability.
• Due to a visual glitch, the Nutcracker Zombie's head acts like its headwear, and the nutcracker itself stays when the zombie is defeated, despawning only when it collapses.
