Murkadamia Nut is a shadow plant in Plants vs. Zombies 2 first introduced the 8.3.1 update. He blocks off zombies identically to Wall-nut, but only has slightly more health than an Infi-nut.

When powered by Moonflower or Conceal-mint, Murkadamia Nut surrounds himself with gelatin, this gelatin heals itself over time like an Infi-nut and can damage zombies that eat it like an Endurian.

Origins

He is based on the macadamia, a commercially important nut that is indigenous to Australia.

His name is a portmanteau of "murk," a darkness or gloom, referring to his status as a shadow plant, and "macadamia," the real-life plant he is based on.

When fed Plant Food, Murkadamia Nut will regrow murk (if powered) and gain a little shield that allows him to absorb 2000 more damage.

Conceal-mint effect

When boosted by Conceal-mint, Murkadamia Nut's murk will regenerate an additional 550 damage per second, murk health is increased by 11500 health, and his damage reflection is increased by 70%. He will be powered even if not adjacent to a Moonflower.

Strategies

In normal state, Murkadamia Nut seems to be useless and weak as, when compared with Wall-nut, he has less health and costs more sun, as well as being ineligible to Wall-Nut First Aid's healing effect. The only better aspect than Wall-nut is his faster recharge, although Primal Wall-nut and Explode-O-Nut are obviously better picks.

When powered by Moonflower, Conceal-mint, or Noctarine, Murkadamia Nut's perk is a combination of Infi-nut and Endurian, as he can damage zombies as well as regenerating his health without the usage of Plant Food or Wall-nut First Aid and therefore requires less maintenance. If his murk degrades, his attack speed slows down. Keep this in mind.

Do not utilize Gloom Vine to power Murkadamia Nut, as the former will be consumed first, causing the latter to lose its perk.

However, there are some differences among these plants. Unlike Infi-nut, Murkadamia Nut doesn't have a projector, so once he is eaten, he can't be restored naturally. Unlike Endurian, which attacks actively, Murkadamia Nut can only damage zombies which are eating him, so his attack cannot cooperate well with immobilization. Since it mirrors damage, it is most effective on zombies that have very high DPS but not too much health like Newspaper Zombie.

Zombies who don't eat plants such as Explorer Zombies or Gargantuars can destroy Murkadamia Nut without damaging it, making its perk useless.

Trivia

• In the 8.3.1 update, Murkadamia Nut suffered from a glitch where, while able to be powered by Moonflower, Moonflower was not boosted by it.
  • This was fixed in the 8.4.1 update.
• Murkadamia Nut is first plant to have damage mirrored in Plants vs. Zombies 2. Endurian, Torchwood, Holly Barrier and other plants all attack actively.
• The shield from his Plant Food effect has the Conceal-mint family symbol on it.
• Although he is a defensive plant, he is not subject to Wall-nut First Aid.
• Despite his seed packet depicting him with a red mouth, he has a blue mouth when planted. This is likely an oversight.
