Gorgon Pitcher (蛇妖瓶子草: pinyin: Shéyāo Píng​zicǎo) is an monthly special plant in the Chinese version of Plants vs. Zombies 2 introduced in the v3.1.1 update.

She fires snake spirits at zombies ahead to damage them. If these snake spirits pass by a poisonous plant, they will become poisonous themselves and have a chance to slither to other zombies after hitting their main target. If they pass by at least three poisonous plants, they will become darker and be able to hit even more zombies across the lawn. Gorgon Pitcher will also be able to perform a petrifying attack when tapped on or if a zombie gets too close to it. Tapping on her activates the petrifying attack from any distance. After performing a petrification attack, Gorgon Pitcher will need to recharge for 20 seconds.

Gorgon Pitcher's petrification attack will turn the first zombie ahead into a stone statue, if they cannot be turned into a statue, they will instead be stunned. Stone statues act as stationary obstacles that block plant projectiles, similar to tombstones but far weaker. And like tombstones, they can be destroyed by Grave Buster and receive extra damage from Bamboo Trooper's projectiles. At level 1, Gorgon Pitcher can petrify zombies up to Level 2.

Origins

According to Gorgon Pitcher's internal name, she is based on the trumpet pitcher a pitcher plant in the genus Sarracenia. Specifically, Gorgon Pitcher resembles the cobra lily (Darlingtonia californica), who is named as such due to the pitchers' resemblance to snakes.

Gorgon Pitcher's design and abilities are based on the gorgons of Greek mythology, who were women with live snakes for hair, and whose faces were considered so ugly that viewing them would turn the viewer into stone.
