Hocus Crocus (魔法番红花; pinyin: Mó​fǎ Fān​hóng​huā) is a plant in Chinese version of Plants vs. Zombies 2 introduced in the 2.9 update part of the update's Children's Day event.

Hocus Crocus attacks zombies by shooting magic beams at them, these magic beams deal high damage and will shrink zombies for 5 seconds at a time, weakening their health and attacks and slowing their movement speed, and attacks more frequently than her international appearance. Gargantuars and bosses are immune to being shrunken. Her attack can also instant kill Imps and Seagull Zombie.

Origins

Hocus Crocus is based on the Crocus genus of Iris flowers cultivated for their stamens, from which the spice saffron originates.

Her name is a portmanteau on the phrase "Hocus Pocus," a phrase typically associated with stage magicians, and Crocus, the plant Hocus Crocus is based on.

Her almanac entry references a wide-spread meme in the Chinese community about pink-themed anime girls often being the most fierce and distorted characters. The phrase "pink magical girl" often refers to Madoka Kaname from Puella Magi Madoka Magica.

Plant Food effect

When given Plant Food, Hocus Crocus will attack three random zombies at once with more powerful magic shrinking beams, zombies attacked by these beams will also leave behind a small glob of magic orange fog that will temporarily shrink any zombie that walks through it.

Costume

When Hocus Crocus has her costume equipped, the magic shrinking fog will effect a larger area and last longer on the lawn.

• Hocus Crocus, Aloe and Pea Vine are the only three plants from the International version of Plants vs. Zombies 2 to be ported to the Chinese version of Plants vs. Zombies 2 with drastically different abilities.
• She can target Disinfection Zombie, even though it has no effect on him.
• She and Heath Seeker are the only plants in Fairytale Forest who appear in the international version of Plants vs. Zombies 2.
