Snow Pea (Plants vs. Zombies 2)
- For other uses, see Ice Pea (disambiguation).
Snow Pea is a peashooting plant appearing in Plants vs. Zombies 2. He is a Premium plant in this game and is 25 sun cheaper than his appearance in Plants vs. Zombies.
Snow Pea attacks by firing frozen peas at zombies every 1.35 - 1.5 seconds, which does 20 damage, slowing their target's movement and attack speed by 50% for 10 seconds. The attack also chills other zombies in its tile, but deals no damage.
About
- For more information about this character, see Snow Pea.
Snow Pea is available for purchase for $4.99. His sun cost was lowered to 150 sun, but he retained his functionality as in the first game. As of the 9.2 update, he can now chill zombies in a 1x1 radius.

Upgrades
Plant Food effect
When fed with Plant Food, Snow Pea creates an ice trail on the lane in front of him, slowing down every zombie on the lane, and fires 60 peas similar to Peashooter's Plant Food effect, but with frozen peas. After 3.5 seconds, the effect stops and the ice trail disappears.
Costumed (China only)
When fed Plant Food, he shoots three big frozen peas that deal 600 damage, that will keep striking further targets in case the first target didnt absorb all the 600 damage.
Winter-mint effect
When boosted by Winter-mint, Snow Pea deals an additional 120 damage in his normal attack, an additional 30 damage in his Plant Food attack, the chance of him shooting a freezing pea is increased by 25%, and said freezing peas will deal an additional 120 damage.

Strategies
While from the beginnings of the game until the 9.2 update, Snow Pea has received a slight buff in the form of a slightly reduced sun cost, overall the sequel has not been generous to the plant himself: Firstly, the increased amount of enemies that can block or deflect direct shots now poses a serious challenge to Snow Pea as well as other peashooting plants. Secondly, the fact that Snow Pea is placed along with other more effective slowing solutions in the premium shop such as Sapfling and Missile Toe means that the plant is more likely to be ignored if the player desires for the ability to suppress the incoming horde. All is not lost, though; the player might still find some use from Snow Pea in his long range and its ability to extinguish Explorer Zombie's and Torchlight Zombie's torch, along with Prospector Zombie's dynamite stick, but this trait is shared with all Winter-mints and Hurrikale as well.
Snow Pea also suffers from outside options, Winter Melon not costing money, Cold Snapdragon being able to hit multiple zombies at the cost of a lower range, Sap-fling will not remove the slowing effect in case of using fire plants, Missile Toe being able to target anywhere on the lawn and Stallia like the Sap-fling, being able to work with Fire plants along with being free. Overall, similar to Chomper, they are premiums suffering from costing money while there are better options that either cost the same amount of money to obtain or the player can get them for free. However, due to the 9.2 update, Snow Pea can chill zombies in a 1x1 radius, which can easily chill groups of zombies. Stalling them with Wall-nut or Primal Wall-nut, can easily group of zombies, which could cause all of them to be chilled. Although Winter Melon chills zombies in a 3x3 radius, a Snow Pea can be a cheaper alternative.
If you put together several Snow Peas in a row, the zombies will be more likely to freeze more often.
Since he received his buff in 9.2 update, good synergies can be made with this plant. Like with Turkey-pult or Zoybean Pod that will make the zombies unable to do anything against the Turkeys and Zomboids while frozen.
Primal Peashooter also makes good synergy with this plant as the power of pushing can also make several zombies slow down and even freeze with the ice effect. As long as there are no Jurassic Bully or Jurassic Rockpuncher next to him.
Hurrikale can also synergize with him quite well. Much like wall plants, Hurrikale will cause zombies in a lane to bunch up into a single spot (in this case, at the rightmost side of the lawn), allowing Snow Pea's chilling and freezing ability to affect more zombies at once.
Snow Pea is a decently effective plant in Neon Mixtape Tour, since his freezing effect can stop the zombies abilities with the music for a while, zombies like Punk Zombie, Breakdancer Zombie, MC Zom-B and even the Hair Metal Gargantuar, as long as the situation doesn't get out of control. With the Boombox Zombie while he won't work when his music is playing for obvious reasons, he can make him take longer to play or not at all.
Snow Pea is a good choice in Big Wave Beach, as his freezing effect will be able to stop zombies such as Surfer Zombie, Octo Zombie and Fisherman Zombie preventing them from being able to carry out their abilities against the plants. However, he will struggle once their abilities come into play.
Snow Pea can prove to be quite powerful in Jurassic Marsh, as his chilling & freezing ability can prevent zombies from advancing past the first column on the lawn, thereby preventing them from fulfilling the condition for most dinosaurs (save for the Ankylosauruses) to begin displaying their abilities. Planting Snow Pea in large enough quantities will allow you to indefinitely hold a lane back at the very right side of the lawn, where Pokra can be used to make quick work of the zombies.
This plant can be a great counter against Gargantuars (except the Hair Metal Gargantuar when his music plays). If you have planted many Snow Peas in a row, it is possible for Snow Peas to completely stun-lock them and any other zombies on the tile

Trivia
- In the 1.9 update, there was a texture glitch for Snow Pea's eyes along with Wall-nut, Threepeater, and Twin Sunflower.
- He was removed from the store in the 3.5.1 update for unknown reasons, along with Imitater. However, they returned in the 3.6.1 update.
- He was removed again from the store after Toadstool's release. He again reappeared to the store during the second return of limited-edition plants.
- There is a glitch that occurs when playing a Piñata Party with Snow Pea. After clicking on his ad after the level and entering the store, he will disappear.
- This glitch also had occurred with Grapeshot.
- He was removed again from the store after Toadstool's release. He again reappeared to the store during the second return of limited-edition plants.
- If the player boosts a Torchwood, and have a Snow Pea behind him, the frozen peas despawn as soon as they pass the Torchwood.
- In levels of Beghouled where Snow Pea appears, if his Plant Food ability is activated and then a match is made causing him to fall into another lane, he will freeze the initial lane he was in but he will not do anything else.
- This leaves the initial lane frozen and Snow Pea firing peas on the new lane.
- Whenever Snow Pea uses his Plant Food effect, all the zombies in his lane will be slowed down, even before the ice trail appears.
- This happens with Fire Peashooter, as her fire trail burns the zombies before the fire trail appears.
- His recharge was changed into Mediocre from Fast in the 5.9 update.
- Despite being a cold plant, he is not immune to the freezing winds in Frostbite Caves. This trait is shared with Iceberg Lettuce, Winter Melon, Boingsetta and Cryo-shroom.
- When using Plant Food, Snow Pea’s stem and bottom leaves turn cyan, reminiscent of Ice Queen Pea.
- Oddly enough, he could freeze Zomboids and Turkeys, though without damaging them. This has been fixed in the 9.5.1 update.
