Bud'uh Boom is a premium plant added in the 11.0.1 update of Plants vs. Zombies 2 alongside Ice-shroom. Bud'uh Boom is an instant use plant that explodes, leaving stunning butter tiles in a 3x3 area and heavily damaging zombies. His explosion will also fling multiple butter projectiles onto random tiles on the lawn, which also leave stunning butter puddles.

Origins

While the plant Bud'uh Boom is based on is never explicitly stated or made clear, he greatly resembles a Haworthia, specifically the Haworthia cooperi species. His name is a play on "bud'uh" (butter) and Bada-Boom, a popular phrase. His name could also be a pun of "bud", a small pointed lump that appears on a plant; however, he is not actually a bud as he is a succulent leaf.

An over-pressurized bulb of boiling butter, this instant plant will go BOOM! Burning away zombies around it and flinging blobs of butter across the lawn, stunning any zombie unfortunate to be caught in its shower of buttery goop. Bud'uh Boom's buttery obsession always had him on a hair trigger, but when Zomboss served up "You-can't-believe-it's-not-butter!" - it was poppin' pandemonium on the lawn! Now, he's ready to butter up zombies and explode with boiling, buttery, BOOM!

Bombard-mint effect

When boosted by Bombard-mint, Bud'uh Boom's explosion damage is increased to 1300 (level 1), 1600 (level 2-3), 2000 (level 4-5), 2300 (level 6-8), 3000 (level 9), 4000 (level 10) damage, it will fling an additional 1 buttered projectile, and its projectiles (also the grid items it leaves) deal an additional 5 (level 1-6) or 10 (level 7-10) damage.

Trivia

• Bud'uh Boom is the fourth plant that butters zombies, the first being Kernel-pult, the second being Headbutter Lettuce, and the third being Buttercup. Out of the four buttering plants, only the butter Bud'uh Boom flings looks different.
• Zomboss's "You-can't-believe-it's-not-butter" in his Almanac may be a reference to "I can't believe it's not butter", a brand of margarine.

Specific to the Chinese version (China only)

• Bud'uh Boom doesn't have the "Buh-DAAA!" onomatopoeia after exploding.
• Bud'uh Boom got a slight delay for its explosion so that it would line up with the exploding animation.
