Oily Olive (油橄榄; pinyin: Yóugǎnlǎn) is a plant obtained in Renaissance Age in the Chinese version of Plants vs. Zombies 2. He creates a slippery, yet flammable oil slick in a small area when planted. If any Ballerina Zombies make contact with the slick he makes, they will slip, stunning them for some time. Fire plants can also set the slick on fire, making it damage zombies that make contact with it, similar to Spikeweed.

About

Oily Olive is the sixth plant obtained in Renaissance Age, being unlocked after beating Day 14, and is the only instant use introduced in the world.

He is a single-instant-use plant. When played, he creates an oil slick in a 3x1 area ahead and behind him, which can be ignited by fire plants to deal an immense amount of damage to zombies who step in it (Imp Dragons are not affected).

Ballerina Zombies can slip on this oil and be momentarily stunned. If not touched by a fire plant the oil slick disappears soon after.

Origins

Oily Olive is based on the olive, the fruit of the Olea europaea tree, and olive oil, a cooking oil obtained from the Olive fruit.

His name, Oily Olive, is a play on olive oil, flipping the two words to indicate that Oily Olive is an olive that is oily.

His ability to make Ballerinas slip is based on how olive oil reduces friction between matter and the combustive properties of the oil slick is a reference to how flammable they can become when confronted by heat.

Strategies

Oily Olive can be used on Ballerina Zombie, which can make them fall down and stuns them temporarily. However, his oil trail will disappear after a few seconds. Using them on Ballerina Zombie is super useful to make them stun and also can make a chance to defeat them in seconds.

• For unknown reasons, Oily Olive does not appear on the Renaissance Age world map.
• Oily Olive was planned to make erratic-moving zombies such as Jester Zombie and Punk Zombie slip, but this was scrapped due to time constraints.
