Splendens Blade  (Unsourced) (凤梨链刃: fènglí liàn rèn) is a melee plant in the Chinese version of Plants vs. Zombies 2 first introduced in the 2.5.6 update.

When a zombie approaches, the plant will take out his chain blade and attack all zombies within two tiles. The greater the zombie's size, the more damage they take.

After attacking with his chain blade three times, he will spread out the chain and stab, damaging zombies in the entire lane. After doing the stab attack he will be lifted up and will smash himself down.

Origins

Splendens Blade is based on the flaming sword (Vriesea splendens), a species of flowering plants native to Trinidad, eastern Venezuela and the Guianas.

The line "After all, the garden is more focused on maintaining peace, and doesn't want to promote in-fighting" in his almanac refers to a saying by Ma Baoguo, a Chinese trickster who offered fake kung-fu classes and was made fun of by Chinese netizens.

Is that a new combat method?" Splendens Blade finds everything around him to be so boring. Singing, dancing, fighting zombies? Those are all tacky plant business. What he's looking for is an honest, heartfelt duel. "Hey you! Yes, the punching bok choy! Let's have a duel!" But what he didn't know was that the plant he challenged was not just the bok choy, but also his cohorts. If they took to surrounding him, he would've surely lost. In the end however, the duel ended in a tie. After all, the garden is more focused on maintaining peace, and doesn't want to promote in-fighting.

	Cracking Slam 裂地猛击	After triggering the Smashing Attack, there is a 50% chance of being followed by an Earthshatter Slam. The pineapple will plunge the chain blade into the ground, then deal 5400 points of damage to the zombies 4 squares to the right and knock back 1.5 squares. 在触发下砸攻击后之后，有50%的概率再接上裂地猛击。凤梨会将链刃扎入地下，随后对右侧4格的僵尸造成5400点伤害并击退1.5格。

Strategies

Splendends Blade is a good choice to attack tougher zombies, such as Octo Zombies. Also, his chain will deal greater damage to zombies of larger sizes, like Gargantuar, Robo-cone Zombie, Disco-tron 3000, and more. His final attack is also powerful against immobile zombies, such as Imp Cannon, Zombie King, Fisherman Zombie, and Zcorpion Zombie.

You must be careful against Chicken Wrangler Zombie and Weasel Hoarder, since they can release an ambush of animals after being damaged by Bromel Blade, both during his main attack and final attack. However, if you plant Sweet Potato or Hot Date nearby, any ambush animals will be attracted and get killed instantly.

Trivia

• Splendens Blade's almanac erroneously states that his attack is Lobbed.
• The version 2.5.7 update made his animations more optimized.
