Acidic Lemon (强酸柠檬, lit. "Strong Acid Lemon"; pinyin: Qiángsuān Níngméng) is a plant in the Chinese version of Plants vs. Zombies 2. He shoots acidic lemonade droplets at zombies that do 50 damage, and any metal objects or shields on the zombies will be corroded, dealing 100 damage. His ability to corrode objects can be increased by upgrading him to level 2, which makes him corrode cones from Conehead Zombies, and at level 3, he can corrode any kind of zombie.

Origins

He is based on the fruit of the lemon (Citrus limon), a citrus plant which juice is commonly used for both culinary and cleaning purposes. His name may refer to how lemon juice is about 5% to 6% citric acid. His ability references how acid can usually corrode metal.

The straw on his head references to lemonade, the drink that uses lemon as its ingredient.

When fed Plant Food, he will rain lemonade droplets on the zombies three times, that does about 300 damage to all non-metallic zombies, which doubles against metallic ones. At level 2 the damage bonus is applied to Conehead Zombies, and every other zombie at level 3.

Costumed

Plant Food ability turns water tiles yellow in Big Wave Beach, causing 25 damage to zombies every second. The contamination effect expires after 10 seconds.

Strategies

At level 1, Acidic Lemon can be treated like Magic-shroom, which is in turn a better version of Repeater. Although he does have disadvantages compared to Magic-shroom, such as not being able to attack behind him, this is compensated by his lower sun cost and faster recharge as well as his special ability to corrode metal objects. He can also be used as a better version of Magnet-shroom, as he can affect metal objects and defend himself. This makes him a good counter to Knight Zombies and Zombie Kings in Dark Ages. At level 2, he can also be treated like Narcissus Shooter, because of his ability to get rid of cones and metal objects from a long range and also not being RNG-based.

It is good to upgrade him to Level 3 or 4, as this can increase his damage potential against anything thanks to his level 3 upgrade. Although it is hard to get his puzzle pieces, it will be worth it. This is due to a combination of factors, such as low sun cost, fast recharge, high damage, and him being one of few plants that are recharged at the start so he works as early defense for powerful plants like Winter Melon.

When fully leveled up, however, the player needs no more plants other than Acidic Lemon for an adequate defense against zombies of any level in almost any level, as it is very powerful by itself against even Gargantuars, allowing him to win most levels without support. In addition, the plant's sun cost can be reduced to just 100 sun, he can be planted on water, or his recharge time reduced by 30% by equipping the plant with a pendant.

Trivia

• Although his costume is an inflatable inner tube, it does not allow the Acidic Lemon to be planted on water without the aid of a Lily Pad. This trait is shared with Pea-nut, Homing Thistle, and Banana Launcher, who all have water-related costumes but cannot be planted on water.
• He cannot turn the water in Pirate Seas yellow.
• He is the only plant that is able to change the color of the water in Big Wave Beach, making him an environment modifier. 
• Despite being liquid, the lemonade droplets he shoots cannot extinguish Explorer Zombie's torch or Prospector Zombie's dynamite, because Acidic Lemon was not designed for those uses.
• After the 1.4.2 update, his projectiles now deal more damage, as he now deals 50 damage to normal zombies. This means that judged by the damage difference they had before the 1.4.2 update, it should now deal 100 damage to zombies with metal armor.
  • Before the 1.4.2 update, his attack dealt 20 damage to most zombies and 60 damages to zombies with metal objects on them. This means that he functioned similarly to Peashooter, unless upgraded.
• He appears to have a lemon slice lodged into the corner of its head, representing lemonade, a drink made with lemon, along with the straw.
• His appearance has some features in common with the Coconut Sniper.
  • They're both open at the top.
  • They both have a straw from the opening of the top.
  • They have a decoration at the opening at the top (Acidic Lemon has a lemon wedge, while Coconut Sniper has an umbrella.)
• Acidic Lemon can damage Excavator Zombie even with its shovel on, as it corrodes metal items, but since Excavator Zombie's shovel cannot be destroyed, it only damages the zombie instead, allowing him to be used in levels with them without problems.
• He will attempt to attack Snorkel Zombies even when they are submerged, but he cannot hit them. The same applies to some straight shooting plants.
• He and Lotus Pod are the only Chinese-exclusive plants in Big Wave Beach.
• His almanac entry references his costume.
