Flamingo Rider is a Beach zombie introduced in Plants vs. Zombies 3. It moves at fast speeds when grounded, then starts to fly when it reaches a plant.

Origins

It's based on a flamingo, a bird species that has a long neck, two tall legs, and pink feathers. However, in its description's case, it's based on a plastic flamingo statue, which is a decoration that is often set on a lawn.

Its ability is based on Dodo Rider Zombie from Plants vs. Zombies 2.

Strategies

Flamingo Rider was a big threat when it encounters the first plant it meet, so the player was forced to kill it quickly while other zombies try to cross their defenses, which tricks the player from planting more plants on other tiles. Flak Seed was a must-use plant to encounter this zombie, which is much quicker than Cabbage-pult, Kernel-pult, and more. Squash also can counter this zombie when it walks on-land and flying on mid-air. Ragweed also the most useful plant to encounter this zombie as well, which can blow back Flamingo Rider back to one tile away from your defenses, giving more time for the player to set up more defenses.

If there are lots of Flamingo Riders on the lawn, the level was much trickier than usual, as they can fly across the lawn after encountering a plant. So the player must safe their Cherry Bomb for later levels or they must use either Gloom-shroom or Gravitree to defeat them.

Trivia

• Unlike Dodo Rider Zombie, who lands after he passes an obstacle, Flamingo Rider will keep on flying even if he has already passed an obstacle. This is possibly based on the fact that flamingos can fly better than dodos (which are completely flightless in real life).
