Plants vs. Zombies on Java is an official version of Plants vs. Zombies developed by PopCap Games and published by Electronic Arts, released in 2012.
Differences from the PC Version
- The game has many performance issues and tends to lag frequently.
- This version has an overall much easier difficulty.
- The only background music which plays throughout the entire game is from the J2ME version of Bejeweled Twist.
- Much of the content was removed, likely to make the game size small enough for Java-based phones, including:
- Crazy Dave's Twiddydinkies, the Zen Garden, Puzzle Mode, Mini-games and Survival Mode, making Adventure Mode the only game mode.
- All original themes and sound effects.
- Mini-games which would occur in Level X-5 are replaced by normal levels.
- In the Fog levels, the fog is removed.
- Darkness gimmick of Level 4-10.
- Removed plants include Plantern, Blover, Split Pea, Magnet-shroom, Garlic, Pumpkin, Coffee Bean, Umbrella Leaf, Marigold and upgrade plants.
- Removed zombies include Zomboni, Dolphin Rider Zombie, Bungee Zombie, and Yeti Zombie.
- Suburban Almanac is unlocked earlier in the game.
- The help menu provides you with actual tips on playing the game.
- In Level 5-10, Dr. Zomboss has less toughness than normal, taking roughly 6 Jalapenos to defeat him, making the fight much easier.
- At the end of the last level, the whole game is reset without bringing over any of the plants unlocked throughout the game.
