Plants vs. Zombies: Game of the Year Edition
Plants vs. Zombies: Game of the Year Edition, GOTY Edition for short, and also known as the New PC version[fn 1], is a new PC version of Plants vs. Zombies. First released on July 11, 2010, it was made available through Steam for Microsoft Windows and macOS on August 10, 2010.
It is offered as an upgrade to users who own the original version of Plants vs. Zombies and is available to PC and Mac users. A limited edition version of Plants vs. Zombies: Game of the Year Edition can be bought at stores which include the game as well as a limited edition collectible zombie, Dancing Zombie, or Sunflower figurine. It also can be bought on Steam, Pogo (Windows only), Origin or the Mac App Store (Mac only).
The Game of the Year Edition has 21 (20 in the Physical and non-Steam versions) achievements (with the Achievement sound effect coming from Peggle), access to the Zombatar mode, and some minor changes to the game. Most notably Level 4-10 Gold farming being patched out.
The Dancing Zombie which resembled Michael Jackson has also been replaced by the new Disco Zombie. The Backup Dancers have also been replaced. Zomboni's Almanac entry has been changed. The Adventure Mode level button has been redesigned. There has been a Sunflower figurine included since June 2011. Also, in some stores, a Dancing Zombie figure is included instead.
On August 18, 2017, this game was removed from the Mac App Store due to stability and game issues relating to High Sierra. The Steam version can still be bought for Mac, however, since MacOS Catalina does not support 32-bit apps including Plants vs. Zombies, it needs to be bought on MacOS Mojave or earlier.
On June 7th 2023, it was removed from purchase via popcap’s website entirely. As of October 2023, it is back on popcap’s website for purchase.

Trivia
- For the Mac App Store photo, there is a Peashooter with Repeater's leaves, like the PS3, Xbox and iPad versions for the ZomBotany icons.
- The box art features a Kernel-Pult with no eyebrows, a Mullet Zombie, a Cherry Bomb, a Coffee Bean with wings, a Jalapeno, a Balloon Zombie, a Sunflower, Crazy Dave, a Snow Pea, a Wall-nut, a Squash, a Potato Mine, a Chomper, a Peashooter, a Zombie, an Imp, a Snorkel Zombie, a Buckethead Zombie, and a Football Zombie.
- If a save has been created (by exiting to the main menu or by completing a round in Survival Mode), it can only be deleted if it was overwritten by a new save. Restarting or ending the level does not delete saves. So if the player creates a save while playing, restarts or ends the level, then reenters the level, the player will be put back to the exact save file that was made prior. This allows the player to easily save scum.
