He's always worn a bucket. First, it was to be unique. Later, he just forgot it was there.

History

Plants vs. Zombies

Buckethead Zombie1.png

In the original Plants vs. Zombies game, as well as all Chinese spin-off games based on it, Buckethead Zombie first appears in Level 1-8, serving as a stronger version of the Conehead Zombie, absorbing 1300 damage rather than 570, thus absorbing 730 more damage. Similar to Zombie and Conehead Zombie, he has a Ducky Tube Zombie counterpart that only appears in Pool and Fog levels.

Due to his bucket being metallic, Magnet-shroom can steal his bucket, degrading him to a regular Zombie. He costs 125 sun in I, Zombie, and 100 brains in Versus Mode.

In Plants vs. Zombies: Great Wall Edition, he was renamed and appeared as the Beggar Zombie. Its china bowl cannot be taken by Magnet-shroom.

Buckethead Zombie made a reappearance in PopCap's ill-fated Facebook game Plants vs. Zombies Adventures, retaining the same role as the previous game. He first appears in the first level of Cadaver Cavern and appears in mostly every level beyond that.

It costed 1000 coins to send him to attack a neighbor, as well as 250 coins and a waiting time of five minutes to train him for Brainball.

Plants vs. Zombies 2

Buckethead Zombie returned in Plants vs. Zombies 2, once again being the first zombie the player encounters, in Player's House - Day 5. Buckethead Zombie only appears in Player's House and Modern Day, but has a variant for every time period in the game, and thus technically appears in every world. Buckethead Zombie and all his variants have Basic speed and Hardened toughness.

Certain Buckethead Zombies have more defining qualities than others, Buckethead Cowboy is affected by Pianist Zombie's music, Cave Buckethead Zombie is immune to being frozen, and 8-Bit Buckethead Zombie is only summoned via Arcade Zombie.

Garden Warfare series and Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville

Buckethead Zombie appears as a spawnable in both games in the Garden Warfare series as well as Battle for Neighborville, summoned by glowing dirt piles. Like Browncoat Zombies, he can attack with either a Zombie Bite or a Hard Rock if the plant being targeted is in a place Buckethead Zombie can't normally reach.

Buckethead Zombies have 170 health, though his health is split between his bucket and Buckethead Zombie himself, which allows zombies like Scientist to heal him to full if he has his bucket on, but to a much lower amount if he has already lost his bucket.

Plants vs. Zombies: All Stars (China only) (Archived content)

Buckethead Zombie returned in the Chinese-exclusive turn-based game Plants vs. Zombies: All Stars. Like Plants vs. Zombies 2, he had higher health than a Conehead Zombie and had numerous time-based variants throughout the game. He could only attack plants by attacking them directly once he reached them, but had a skill that let him place his bucket on the ground and sit behind it, blocking some damage.

Buckethead also appears in the turn-based mobile card game Plants vs. Zombies Heroes as a Premium Uncommon in the PvZH Hearty Icon.pngHearty class.

He costs 4BrainPvZH.png and has 3StrengthPvZH.png/4HeartPvZH.png. He has no special abilities, but does have the PvZH Armored Icon.pngArmored 1 trait.

Bonus Track BucketheadH.png

Another buckethead exists in this game called Bonus Track Buckethead.

He has the exact same stats, and his ability prevents all plants on the field from doing bonus attacks.

Plants vs. Zombies 3

Buckethead’s latest reappearance is in Plants vs. Zombies 3, once again being one of the first zombies encountered and retaining the role as an armored basic zombie.

Similar to Pompadour and Bikini Zombie in Big Wave Beach, Buckethead Zombies in this game can spawn as either male or female, spotting a black wig if they're female.
