- For other uses, see Sunflower.
Twin Sunflower is a recurring character within the Plants vs. Zombies franchise. Twin Sunflower is a sun-producing plant, which, like their name suggests, produces twice as much sun as a normal Sunflower.
Interestingly, while Plants vs. Zombies reveals Twin Sunflower was created by "forbidden science", Plants vs. Zombies Heroes claims they are fraternal twins. However this could be referring to the fact that the two were likely two separate Sunflowers before being merged together. No other media helps add to this story.
As of Plants vs. Zombies 3, Twin Sunflower has appeared in five games.
Origins
Much like Sunflower, Twin Sunflower's design is based on the Helianthus annuus, also known as the common sunflower. The sun in their name refers to her ability to produce sun, much like their single-headed counterpart. The word Twin also refers to the fact that they have two heads.
History
Plants vs. Zombies
- Main article: Twin Sunflower (PvZ)
In the original Plants vs. Zombies game, as well as all Chinese spin-off games based on it, Twin Sunflower is one of the first two upgrade plants that can be obtained, obtainable after beating Level 3-4 for $5000. It costs 150 sun and serves as an upgrade to Sunflower, producing 50 sun at a time rather than just 25.
Due to its double sun production, Twin Sunflower is essential for any Survival Mode run, letting less space be used for the purpose of sun production, thus leaving more space for offensive plants. It has an achievement based on it, Flower Power, which simply requires 10 of them to be planted at a time.

Twin Sunflower made a reappearance in PopCap's ill-fated Facebook game Plants vs. Zombies Adventures, having the same ability as its Plants vs. Zombies counterpart. However, it is no longer an upgrade plant and can be thus planted on its own and costs the same as Sunflower, being a direct upgrade to it as a result.
Power Flower serves as a VIP counterpart to Sunflower and to Twin Sunflower by proxy, giving 75 sun instead. Twin Sunflower was the last plant to be obtained before the game shut down.
Plants vs. Zombies 2
- Main article: Twin Sunflower (PvZ2)
Twin Sunflower returned in Plants vs. Zombies 2, once again as its own plant, unlocked after beating Day 24 of Ancient Egypt. She costs 125 sun to plant (25 sun cheaper than its original sun cost and 75 less than her overall cost from Plants vs. Zombies), and due to the change in sun mechanics, produces 100 sun at a time, compared to Sunflower's 50 sun.
She is in the Enlighten-mint family, which gives her a temporary sun production and rate boost when used and when given Plant Food, she gives an instant burst of 250 sun.
She also appears in Plants vs. Zombies Online, but only appears from Sunflower's last upgrade, which lets two of them be planted on top of each other to form a Twin Sunflower. This effectively makes Twin Sunflower cost only 100 sun in this game.
Plants vs. Zombies: All Stars (China only) (Archived content)
- Main article: Sunflower line
Twin Sunflower next appeared in the Chinese-exclusive turn-based game Plants vs. Zombies: All Stars as the second plant in the Sunflower line, evolving from Sunflower and evolving into Triplet Sunflower. It could heal its allies and drop sunshine to boost allies' characteristics. It attacked by firing beams of sunlight at enemies.
Its active ability was Photosynthesis, which healed all plants, and Sunshine Support, which gave a chance to drop sunshine each turn that boosted the attack of Brave plants and the defense of Tenacious plants.
Their soulmates were members of the Pea line for a health boost, members of the Corn line for a damage boost and members of the Stump and Tree line together for a defense boost.
Plants vs. Zombies Heroes
- Main article: Twin Sunflower (PvZH)
Twin Sunflower appears in the turn-based mobile card game Plants vs. Zombies Heroes as a Premium Super-Rare of the Solar class. They costs 2, have 2 and Team-Up, and are in the Flower tribe.
Their ability gives the Plant Hero +2 at the start of each turn it is on the field, and this ability stacks with other plants with sun producing abilities, such as itself, Sunflower, and Metal Petal Sunflower, lasting until it is destroyed.
