"I use they/them pronouns"
Dandelion uses different gender pronouns depending on what game it is in. When editing, use the proper pronouns used in the game in question.
I'm not a leprechaun and I'm not a genie. You can blow my seeds off all you want, but I can't make your wish come true. I don't even know how that rumor got started.

Dandelion is a recurring character within the Plants vs. Zombies franchise. Dandelion uses various explosive attacks to deal a variable amount of damage to zombies.

Although Dandelion's functionality differs from game to game, the core concept of Dandelion using an explosive attack is retained from game to game, whether it being sending out explosive dandelion seeds, or exploding directly.

As of Plants vs. Zombies 3, Dandelion has appeared in six games.

Origins

Dandelion is based on the Taraxacum officinale, the common field dandelion, a flower known for its seed dispersal method of having the seeds be able to fly in the wind when blown on.

History

An explosive Dandelion first appears in the Chinese version of Plants vs. Zombies 2, as a Super Rare Monthly special plant added on September 28th 2014.

He attacks by sending flying dandelion seed bombs down his lane. These dandelion seeds fly over zombies and drops on them when they fly overhead, dealing moderate damage to all zombies occupying the same tile as the targeted zombie.

Dandelion would later be ported to the ill-fated Plants vs. Zombies: Journey to the West, a Chinese port of the original Plants vs. Zombies, as a store exclusive premium plant.

He functioned identically to how he did in the Chinese version of Plants vs. Zombies 2, but his seed bombs targeted zombies directly rather than being dropped overhead.

Dandelion also had a secondary ability, in which he would randomly release a high damaging seed bomb at every zombie on the lawn.

Dandelion would soon be ported to the international version of Plants vs. Zombies 2 for the 2015 Springening event.

He functions identically to how he does in the Chinese version, sending out explosive seed bombs that deal damage to a targeted zombie and all zombies in its tile. But unlike his appearance in the Chinese version, his seed bombs do not deal aerial damage and Dandelion is able to target zombies in both lanes adjacent to the one he is planted in.

When Blover, Hurrikale or Draftodil is played around Dandelion, miniature seed bombs will be blown from Dandelion's head, damaging zombies in the the lane he occupies. Dandelion will not be able to attack for 10 seconds until his seed bombs grow back.

Dandelion would once again appear in the ill-fated Chinese exclusive tower defense game Plants vs. Zombies Online as an unlockable plant in the game's exclusive world, the Qin Shi Huang Mausoleum.

Unlike previous appearances in the tower defense games, Dandelion does not send out exploding seed bombs at zombies, but instead explodes directly, dealing heavy damage to all nearby zombies in a 3x3 area in a similar manner to Gloom-shroom or Phat Beet.

A plant named the Dandelion Weed (simply "Dandelion" in certain instances) makes a debut in Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 as a spawnable weed who is the plant equivalent to the Exploding Imp zombie.

Just like the Exploding Imp, Dandelion Weed runs up to zombie players and explodes, instantly defeating themself and dealing an immense amount of damage.

In Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville, Dandelion Weed makes a reappearance as a spawnable weed, but having been renamed to simply "Dandelion".

Another character named "Dandelion" appears as a non-player character in the Mount Steep campaign mode. Dandelion was asked by fellow L.E.A.F. member Major Sweetie to investigate the disappearance of Mount Steep's cheese flow.
